Regarding his REAL battle: first of all, upgrade your weapon if you haven't yet (I suggest you using the normal HF Blade). Upgrade Raiden's battery and health, and grab some nanopastes (the medkits basically).
The fight itself isn't that hard once if you block correctly and dodge.
Just one attack of his can't be blocked, but sadly there's no way to predict it, and it's free damage, just bare it.
The attacks where he goes yellow can't be blocked either, you need to either move away or use the dodge (there's an ability you can buy called "Offensive Defence" which is basically like a dodge ability).
Around the level there are some crates that, if you break, they will contain nanopastes.
When he looses his sword, he will be invincible to every "acrobatic" attack (slide attack, jump attack etc...), here I highly suggest you to play carefully, because his "judo" attacks don't flash red when they are going to hit.
You can either pay attention and dodge when he throws you a kick, or just block.
A very ignorant way to deal with him while he is not using his weapon is attacking while running. It will deal very low damage, but still, it may confuse him.
One last thing: it should be on by default, but if it's not, use the lock-on on him. The camera will constantly follow his movements letting you see whatever he does.
Other than this, I don't know. I never found his battle hard.
Try playing again and let me know if there's something specific you can't do comrade.
The rest is a matter of keep practicing the blocks and to raise the music volume. Damn, Sam's Main Theme sure kick ass.
1. Use offensive defense (z) it will allow you to deal damage without taking any yourself
2. Use repair nanopastes. its self explanatory, its just heals
3. parry a lot, also self explanatory
TL;DR Parry, and don't combo.
For PC, I'm not sure.
Hope you win against Sam soon!
