How the hell do you block things?
I played through the main game on the easiest difficulty with some sort of blocking aid. Now i try to do the jetstream dlc on normal difficulty and i die horribly all the time. I use a keyboard if that helps

The parry system is your only means of defence. (Direction of the incoming Attack and Basic Attack).

Also if enemy flashed golden instead of red - he's about to do an unblockable attack. And you don't want to block to early or your block will "expire".

How the hell did you beat moonsoon w/o learning to parry?

Well like in most Games, you parry with an Counter Attack, meaning hitting in the exact moment the hit would connect with your Sword, but MGRR is a bit more forgiving, cuz the Window of doing so is a good chunk wider then in most Games, but on the other Hand you have to do more to.

In MGR, you have to hit the Stick in the Direction of the incoming Attack, and then Hit/Hold Attack, in more or less the right Moment. If it's to off from the impact it will just regulary block, but if made precisly, you will make an Counter-Parry. But thats just for Raiden/DLC-02.

Sam has an much tighter Parry Window, and is not so heavily based on Parry anyway actually.
Found this a few Days before, so hope it helps with the DL-01:

I died over and over again trying to block.
From what I understood you hold the control stick in the direction of an attack and then press X.
However I found that doesn't work, seems like you have to push the control stick instead of holding it, while pressing X at the same time.
After I found that out I was finally able to not die anymore.

Yeah the Prob is with Attack and Block beeing the same Button, so if you hold the Stick in the direction, the Game often confuses it with the Attack Command and messes up the Parry, so tapping the Stick in the direction + Attack Button is way safer.

The game is not confused, it's designed so that holding the stick + light attack makes Raiden attack in that direction and flicking the stick + light attack is parry.

Then replace 'stick' with 'WASD'. I found KB&M parrying pretty finicky though, especially when it comes to diagonals.

Well if you have no obligations against Controllers, you may consider buying one for your PC, we'll probably see a lot more Console Ports in the Future, and some Mechanics are hard to convert to Keyboard-Controlls. And even if not ported, many PC Games these Days, have Controller Support to begin with.

Nah, won't get a controller. Keyboard masterrace. I tried a PS 3 controller once and my thumbs were hurting after like 30 mins of playing and it's so inaccurate.

Inaccurate? Just when we were talking about parrying where on WASD you have 8 directions and the analog stick has, at the very least, 4 times that...
