Monsoon No Damage Achievement
In a bid for excuses to keep playing this great game I'm going for the achievements whereby you kill the bosses on Hard+ with no damage, but I'm stuck on Monsoon since when he throws down his red phosphorus smokebombs, the actual smokebombs themselves do a small ~1.8% damage. I have a fully upgraded Muramasa blade but my damage output still isn't high enough to push him to the next phase without him doing this. I'm going to have to tackle this attack at least once during the fight, but with no cue as to it coming and a bigger danger of him throwing himself on me if I just ninja-run around the arena, what is the best way to do this with no damage taken?

Cheers guys.

Use Bloodlust against him, it deals much more damage than Murasama if you charge it twice.
Also, you can dodge smoke bomb with defensive offense, it won't damage you.

I would recommend during the later electromagnetic throws to use the vehicle remains as stepping stones to jump higher, it seems to make blade mode attacks faster.

I just accomplished this the other day after MANY tries. This is for HARD mode. It is quite possible to open up with a charged (and fully upgrades) Pincer Blades (Bloodlust) attack followed by a quick evasion (i.e. Defensive Offense). A few more swipes with Murasama and you can avoid his RP attack altogether (he goes into his jumping routine when his health hits 65-70%). If you get unlucky and he starts to throw his RP, either restart or very quickly do a Defensive Offence to avoid damage. Once he starts jumping, equip your Sai. Blade Mode his junk and the second he jumps down, target lock him and throw the Sai which will stun him. Run up to him and strike the hitbox in Blade Mode. When he shatters, immediately reequip Pincer Blades and ninja run up to his head and start charging your attack. Release the attack the moment he starts to come back together again and you will knock his health down likely to around 46-47% at which point he will start his jumping routine again. Repeat this process again (don't forget to switch back to the Sai after he starts jumping). This time you will only knock him down to 40% at which time he will start his Lorentz force attack. Switch back to your Sai.

This is where it can get tricky - at least I had a lot of trouble with it. Parry the projectile twice and cut it up in Blade Mode. After you both land the cutscene engages where he says something along the lines of "I have won this!". Here's what worked for me - IMMEDIATELY after the cutscene ends and you get control of Raiden, lock onto Monsoon and parry his Sai throw (I believe you have to do it twice). After the second parry, throw your Sai immediately to stun him. Run up, break him apart, switch to Pincer Blades, run up to his head, charge your attack and strike as he comes back together for big damage.

Repeat as before until he is down to 10% health and you get the chance for an execution. If you are also going for an S-Rank (you don't need it for the acheivement/trophy to pop), get at least a 30-hit combo on him which you can easily do during the execution when you are slicing him up.

Good luck with it! Now I'm back to trying to get Gold on the 1st lousy VR mission which is actually causing me more grief than the stupid Monsoon fight!

Upgrade the Bloodlust weapon to get a huge damage boost. He has a cue when he is going to throw the RP grenade. Watch out for when he puts his Sai away and reaches for his pockets, dodge it with Defensive Offense (or was it other way around) to get iframes to dodge the RP grenade's blast.

He's got a pretty big and distinctive windup on the smoke bombs, if you see him going into it dodge away from him.

Just wait until the Sundowner fight. Although that fight is normally easy, no-damage running it is pretty intense.

The helicopter shooting at you is the only hard part.

It's not that bad. You can shoot it down instantly. And you are fast enough it only respawns once.

Thanks for all the info guys. Been away on holiday but tried it all when I got back today, lots of stuff I didn't think of like the unique weapon combo's, EM Grenades and some rarely used attacks. Not done yet but get really damn close every shot. Only a matter of time, hopefully the Sundowner fight will be a lot easier!

If you are quick enough to shoot down his helicopter and dodge his attacks several times, it will be.
