How to Mod MGR
I wanted to mod MGR but there was very little information because the main site that had people modding the game went down years ago. There's no tutorials(that i can see) on here as well.

Steps:

Unpacking:
1. Run the QuickBMS executable
2. Select the CPK script
3. Select the desired CPK file (ideally data000), found in the 'GameData' folder of the MGR game directory
4. Choose where to extract

Repacking: (Not recommended, unless you've reached the file count limit)
*Note that repacking CPKs is only useful after reaching a certain file count in your GameData folder (after having too much mods installed), the game will refuse to start. So when this happens, you must begin repacking the modded files into the CPKs themselves)
1. Run the CriPackedFileMaker executable
2. Click on the first folder icon in the top right corner of the window
3. Select the folder of your desire to repack (the directory of the extracted cpk content in which you modified)
4. Click "Build CPK file..."
5. Set your file destination and save name "CPK file path"
6. Ensure that both 'Try Compression' and 'Mask Directories' are both unchecked (Not sure of the Data Align slider, i've never messed with it, just try 2048 if default 512 doesn't work)
7. Click "Start to build"
You then have a fully repacked cpk file, have it replace the one in "GameData" that you wished to change.


CPK list
data000 - Main filebase; Characters (pl), Enemies (em), Weapons(wp).
data001 - Stage data
data002 - Sound headers (sound settings for characters and enemies, etc.) *debug dump*?
data003 - etc scripts and files (dlc0 - main campaign? )
data004 - etc scripts and files (dlc1 - main campaign? it has to be one of these)
data005 - etc scripts and files (dlc2 - sam campaign)
data006 - etc scripts and files (dlc3 - wolf campaign)
data104 - Gray Fox files (body and sword)
data105 - MGS4 Raiden files
data106 - Extra VR Mission and Wooden Sword files (dlc1)
data107 - Sam Campaign files (dlc2)
data108 - Blade Wolf Campaign files (dlc3)

Hi there, what software do you use to open the unpacked files? like the .dtt and the .bxm ones. I wanna do some model swapping

Thanks a lot for this! I see there are bxm files but I can't find a way to open them. Googling revealed that it is a basicX programming language and their official website is dead sadly

Thanks to ThatLad I extracted the dataXXXX.cpk files but only to fall on a bunch of .dat files as you know.

The thing is that the MGRR Tools seems to be able to extract the .dat files but it doesn't work and i don't know why, also the software is displayed in russian which doesn't help.

Apparently .dat files can be anything like text, audio, video, etc... and that's why it could be complex to extract from.

A freeware used to view 3D models. Hopefully it can extract some .dat files.

Used to tweak and replace textures.

I was only able to see the preview of the 3D models but I'm not a modder at all so if your already into it maybe you can do some stuff with it.

does anyone have the cpk script and as well as that when i extract the .dat and .dtt files i get a bunch of other file formats like .wtp .exp .sop .wmb .wta and .bxm what do i do?

I'm not an expert on this matter but as far as I know there are some half-baked tools.
To my knowledge first there where the dat_tools (by Haoose) which are just a bunch of small console applications to extract/convert the different file types.
Later someone made a gui application for the dat_tools and named it MGRR_Tools. Still a whole mess but there is a working download link.

Also made a Noesis Plugin which kind of works for MGRR.

Is it possible at all to properly unpack and categorize sound files? I'm looking for a number of specific UI sounds, but the audio is obfuscated so much, it's impossible to tell [what and] where to look [for]. I did manage to dig a couple of files out, but the rest are out there.

I also need sounds, but not the interface, but dialogs, in which cpk can they be?

Hi, I have extracted the font file (.dds), currently I need to modify the .mcd, as it is the mapping of each character from font, so how do I do it?
If you can decompile the files then, how can you remove/convert models to say blender or unity

Say I have a model file ready and I know which .dat file I want to replace it with (The HF blade). How do I convert my model file into a compatable .dat file.
