Why no sequel?
How disapointing that this game wasn't followed up with a sequel. This is easily one of the best in it's genre over the past couple years. I liked how it followed a bit more in the vein of the NES classic than the arcade version.

Maybe that's why there's no sequel, because this followed the style of the NES version, which didn't have a faithful sequel? I too think this is sad, such a gorgeous game and great engine. :OptionC:

It comes down to sales and I don't recall the numbers, but I'm pretty sure Strider 2014 only did okay. It's par the course for this series. Capcom really tried to make it huge when it first started with the NES, Arcade and Manga coming out in tandem, but it just never hit that level of popularity. We will probably see a new one when the next big anniversary for Strider is.

It's a shame. I've always loved this series.

I'd love a sequel so much. Best game I played since Strider was Axiom Verge but it by no means has the fluid movement that Strider does. I want a Strider 2.

Are you a fan of Metroidvanias? Have you tried Hollow Knight or Environmental Station Alpha?

I have hollow knight, it's amazing. I haven't finished it yet though, I got kinda half way and got distracted by other games. Now that I've finished Axiom Verge I will start a new game in Hollow Knight. Oh and yes I played Metroid and Supermetroid, Castlevanias etc when I was a kid on my NES. I haven't heard of Environmental Station Alpha, I'll look it up.

Icey looks pretty good and similar in some ways.

It's not like the franchise is dead yet, it's been on backburner, yeah, but Capcom has been lately striking back with awesome remakes and sequels to cult classics so I put my dime on Strider game in near future.

I wish Capcom committed to Strider much earlier and adopted the exploration formula around the same time Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night did. If it went "trania" during the genre's beginning, the franchise would be huge with many more entries. It probably would have gone sour the same time Metroid and Castlevania did too. I suppose, then, that I am content with 2014 Strider being a pretty good near aberration.

P.S. Some of you might not be aware that this Strider game was not developed by Capcom. It is of Western make and Capcom's attitude towards this title and the series remains cold.
