I really want to love this game...
But after a weekend of having a go at the first chapter of Grim Dawn booting this one up (which I picked up in one of the bundle deals last week) its just feels so slow and cumbersome.

I put up with a lot from when it comes to Indies since I do enjoy the majority of them more than the AAA titles being put out these days but this one from combat to leveling up feels like I am climbing up a hill in a full metal jacket and its giving off those bad vibes that A Farewell to Dragons gave off where I quested for six hours killing nothing but wolves of which I eventually canned because it became pointless.

Do I stick with? Does it get any better? Since I have a vast library of other stuff to get through I dont want waste what precious gaming hours a week I do get.

BTW - Not to plug Grim Dawn here but if you havent played it yet its definitely worth a shot. I am enjoying it more than Torchlight 2.

Grim Dawn has it's faults too from what I read (lacking in story and polish) so I think it is just difficult for Indies to put that million dollar shine on a product...without the million dollars ;)

I put a few more hours into this game and found that I lost track of time and actually put 8 hours into it. That was a good sign to me. I did have to overlook the quirks though - I can only hope that they can put a little more spit-and-polish on this game.

Grim Dawn is fantastic - anyway you dont really play arpg's for story but my time with it flew by. I will stick with this for a while longer

legends of dawn doesnt get any better than what youve mentioned sir fualty. frankly, its abysmal the way this game has been dealt with by its devs. its also abysmal how they treat there customers, from trying to push small problems under the rug with "patches" or assurances of such, to outright ignoring people with big problems or complaints.

I cant agree with the polish bit - its extrmely polished plus the game is still in alpha

Well "Alpha" would imply not finished, and I think that was the meaning of what I read in the forums (but I believe "lacks polish" was used). I am looking forward to this myself as I tried Path of Exile and did not care for it.

This is my opinion of LOD I did play it once all the way through with one charactor. At first it was hard for me to adjust to the different world but it's always like that for me when I start a new game. What's good about the game is that it's another adventure for people who like rpg games and it does have really nice areas to explore like ruins and caves. The world is actually not as big as you are lead to believe by the trailor but I did get nice visuals. People had problems with the view and it could be better I would have liked to be able to look up but if you change the camera controls to the numer pad and then set your mouse sensitivity to maximum it will pan faster. The story is simple not very involved with other characters and some of the quests didn't work right and I wasn't able to finish all of them. The monsters are plentiful and often group together so it was easier for me to lure one from the group than get attacked at the same time. I found once my character got better skills and a higher level things became easier. I liked the music and being able to explore was fun. There were a few times when the land had glitches it took a few extra seconds to load the terrain but I didn't have alot of the crashes other people had. My suggestion is don't give up on it completely play it a little each day.

in alpha? if its in alpha, then why are they working on LOD2? why are they working on LOD DLC? also, why was the game put up on steam as a full release and not early access?

So far Grim Dawn has been rather excellent even though its only 1/3 of a game at the moment :)

Lol I have managed to take this thread off topic confusing some in the process. Apologies :)

Legend of Dawn is more of a story driven game than a hack-slash arpg.
It's kinda like they take ultima and staple arpg control on top.

It's not a good Diablo-esque game in any way shape or form. It takes a kind of person to get fun out of this.

it takes a very patiant and imaginitive person to get fun out of it. I agree about the story driven aspect, but only in the sense that you should make up your own story as you go. this game is good for that at least.

Your not saying they released another title not even finishing the old one and fulfilling the pledges first thats ridiculous but shows how this company ticks.
