Will there be an English dub included?
So, I'm a huge fan of KonoSuba, especially of the English dub (personally, I find it more entertaining hearing Aqua's English VA whining and being useless (like always ;P) as opposed to her Japanese VA [no offense to Sora Amamiya, of course]). And I couldn't help but wonder... since this game is finally getting localized official, is there a chance we'll see an English dub for the VN with the original cast from the anime (IE: Arnie Pantoja [Kazuma], Faye Mata [Aqua], Erica Mendez [Megumin], Cristina Vee [Darkness], Kayli Mills [Yunyun], Brianna Knickerbocker [Wiz] etc...)?

If that happens, that would only give me more reasons to wanna buy the game, given I count the KonoSuba dub among my favourite animes to watch dubbed (Death Note, My Hero Academia, Black Lagoon, Chainsaw Man, Monster etc...)

PQube never dubs stuff, so we're SOL unfortunately. Them or Aksys getting something is a guaranteed kiss of death for dubbing

Would be nice, but anything from P-Qube never gets dubbed. not even the mobile game "Fantastic Days" gets one either. Sadly, the anime is the only way to hear the dub VA's.

Yeah, I was blown away by how much better the English dub of Konosuba is than the original Japanese. Would be nice to have a corresponding English dub for this game, but it does seem unlikely.

No dub, no buy. I don't want to play a game with inferior voice acting.

I used to be dub everything then I gradually turned into one of those subs-only ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because the Japanese casts almost always just GETS IT. KonoSuba is about the only anime where I prefer the dub. Well apart from old school stuff like Outlaw Star where the dub is all I know.

Inferior? The majority of people who play games from japan that have been localized usually leave the voices in japanese and as far as anime goes the vast majority prefer the japanese version with subtitles in english, unless things have changed drastically very recently. Also the way the japanese language works somethings just cannot be translated properly and you cannot replicate the subtleties in english, english is a horrible language for nuances, subtleties, emotions etc...

That's really not true, and I'm not sure what your argument is. If dubs are bad because the spoken word is English, or Spanish/French/whatever, instead of Japanese but English is incapable of capturing the Japanese nuance, then how would the English language subs be any better?

Some people like dubs. I used to be like that. It's a lot easier to WATCH an anime when you don't have to read subtitles, distracting you from what's going on on the screen. I watched Made In Abyss with subs first time and dubbed when the movies came out because I wanted to appreciate the art. Sadly, I continued watching Made In Abyss and now my nihilism knows no bounds.

What I don't like is that the majority of English dubs seem to be done by people who work on Western cartoons and the voices all sound Scooby Doo to me. Japanese VA go all in. I've never heard anguish from a Western VA anything like a Japanese one, probably because Sponge Bob rarely gets that worked up.

If they dont want to do english audio, fine but the price needs to reflect that. If you are buying this game from an english speaking country and there is no english audio it should be discounted like 90% compared to what they charge in Japan. Nobody is paying $50-80 dollars for these games if they dont have audio in your native language.

What does the developer have to lose? These people were never going to pay full price for a game where they cant hear the characters speak so every dollar you do get from them is extra profit.

I disagree. you lose so much more by having subtitles. For one thing you miss out on all the animation. Reading as fast as the characters talk with several of them often speaking at once takes up all your visual capacities. You miss out on everything that is happening because all your mental energy is focused on reading.

More importantly you lose all the emotion communicated by the tone of their voice. Imagine watching Date Alive and not even noticing Oragami's emotionless speech pattern because all the characters just sound like nonsense noises.

I mean, one of the reasons I tend to stick with subs is because the Japanese VA are way better at conveying emotion. "nonsense noises"? Borderline racist, honey.

Random noises/sounds aren't racist.

You just didn't watch the good dubbed animes and got stuck with crap. Fooly Cooly (FLCL) Ghost in the Shell, Paranoia Agent, Stray, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Shuffle! are some good Dubbed Anime.

Up to you to give them a try, to see how well they convey their emotional lines.

A dub is highly unlikely because this is a niche game despite the success of the main series and the English voice actors for the characters in this aren't exactly the newbies in the industry so they'd demand a high pay, added in to this is the fact there's the ongoing union issues in the US leading to some VA's playing hard ball with salaries to the point localisation companies for Anime and Games are getting put off from bothering with dubs any more. Replacing voice actors for cheaper ones is also out of the question as developers saw the backlash to Bayonetta when they did that
