Because Telltale closed down a few months ago and no one picked up the license.

Damn, but how? They had so much things going on: Walking Dead, Batman, yet they still lacked money?

Most of the things they had out weren't turning a profit and management knew about it for quite some time. It's likely they had been bleeding money for a couple years at least.

I think this proves a big problem with "abandonware".
Telltale is bust so the rights to the game must still exist, so why would the games be removed instead of giving its proceeds to whoever owns the rights?

Well who should own the rights?

Someone from the company, obviously. Or whoever bought its liquidated assets. IPs don't just vanish when you go bankrupt.

I will admit there's the added issue of the licensing for things like Sam & Max, Evil Dead, etc, but the general point remains. Abandonware should not be allowed to happen in the first place no matter what happens.

Yeah, it would be weird if Activision and associated companies with CoD development would go just bankrupt and then all the Call of Duty games would vanish
