Shadowrun Returns

Never did find those jewels...
I forgot about this but I'm curious, can you find the jewels Coyote needed to find during her hunt for revenge? I left to the lower floor and got immediately sent back to the bar so I didn't manage to look around for em.

It's on the upper floor, locked room right when you get off the elevator. Stevie J needs to be dead to give you the passcode.

What do you get out of finding em?

Some Nuyen

Money for turning them over to some Dwarf with a Dutch name. I had the "Academic" etiquette, so I was able to get $2000 instead of $1000 from him. Oh, there's also a Hellhound in that room that you'll have to fight on your own (assuming Coyote and her BF get sent back, maybe you can keep them with you?). Have fun, the beast is tough,

Not unless you get some Zebra meat on your way to the apartments...

no, still have to fight the lone hellhound. the zebra meat gets used up by the other two in the cell.

Oh, right. I forgot about that one.

Guess Coyote didn't buy enough; I'd have kept one piece on-hand just in-case Stevie J had another hellhound around the place.

Gotta admit, I have 3 etiquettes and I haven't seen em be useful more than a few times so I feel like I wasted karma to some extent on Charisma. At the same time, I've seen charisma on it's own be more necessary than etiquettes.

I was a shaman when I went against it and had an elemental with me, so for me it was a breeze, but I can definitely see it being tough solo.

Etiquettes are specializations, though, where Charisma is a trait. To say that pure Cha is more generally useful than any Etiquette is exactly as I'd expect it to be. Academic, for instance, is going to be much more situationally useful, as it's the how of running in the circles governed by learning and the learned. Charisma is how you come across in *any* social situation, regardless of the specifics. Or: Cha is force of personality; specializations tell you how to use that force in certain specific situations.

OT: yes, the gems are findable -- there couldn't be a mission goal for them otherwise. You have a few options as to which gems you turn over to the [edit] Johnson when you finally get to that point, but I've only tried the "give them all to him" option thus far.

Etiquettes have gain me a lot of money when I used Shadowrunners and Corporation. academics gave me somthing just once, but not as much as the other two (then again, I gain Security much later in the game.)

If you try to hold back the one with the runes, he knows about it already and accuses you of hiding it from him - can't recall if any of the replies to that let you keep it or not.

Heheh, yeah, I figured on something like that. My guess is that the "best" (most nuyen for you) option involves just forking the whole take over, since the game specifically calls out that there are multiple grades of gem in the bag.

I believe there was an option to show the runes to someone else before giving it to him so that you could gain some information on them, but I messed up earlier and did not go to that person (or who I assume I needed to go to).
