Etiquette
Hi

Just started playing this game and loving it this far..

Only one question.. Is etiquette only there for avoiding fights and such and thus making game easier? Do you miss lore/gameplay by using it/not using it? Any item/karma rewards for using it?

Etiquette gives you additional means to proceed in a situation, get additional info or access to locations you wouldn't get into otherwise. I'm not aware of any lore you miss in the Dead Man's Switch campaign that is dependant on certain etiquette, but in certain UGC there are lore options that are only accessible with certain etiquettes.

And yes, sometimes you get karma for using an etiquette dialogue option or additional nuyen from fixers (Etiquette Shadowrunner).

Etiquette is pretty uselss... happen to get used one time or two as discussion option, but you can usually just proceed another way, or to earn 10% more bucks from mission loot.

Frankly, totally a waste of Charisma points...

I chose Street etiquette. So far not a single option for this etiquette at all. I'm 12 hours in so I must be close to the end. I've seen at least three or four dialouge options for the Shadowrunner etiquette and a few for some of the others but not a single option for Street.

Take Security, Shadowrunner and Corporate (Corporate is only used once in the main campaign)

Is Etiquette used to unlock any areas in Dead Man's Switch?

Not exclusively, but it can save you having to do additional stuff to get in. But it is correct that the only etiquette used in the Dead Man's Switch campaign seem to be Security, Shadowrunner and Corporate (which, looking back, isn't all that surprising given where the story takes place mostly).

Gang has at least 1 and Academics has 2 options I remember.

There is a single check for Etiquette:Gang in the Barrens marketplace. I agree that the Etiquette checks could have been a bit more frequently used, but the campaign is basically an introduction.

An introduction and a power leveling campaign. well over 100 Karma? Really?

The only beneficial purpose is It'll get you extra cash in a few select situations. All other times it might save at most 2 minutes of your time bypassing when something is blocking your way. If you ask me it was more fun trying to find the long way to get in anyways.

Corporate is used twice, Gangs either 0 or 1, Security 1, Academic 1, Shadowrunner maybe 1.

you can actually talk your way around with 4 charisma and Security and Shadowrunner Etiquette..the rest is just if you "feel" like being a charismatic person or if your playing a shaman...Decking has the same issue.. there is nothing more then "Decking 6" in the game and you need Decking 7 to be able to equip the best deck in the game..beyond that its not to useful..but then again you got enough Karma to make a Decker that can shoot well.. by the end of the game I had Body 5 ,Quicknes 6 with ranged combat,Rifle and Dodge at 6 as well,Will 5,Strenght 1 with one point in throwing weapons wich I actually never used. Intelligence 7 with Both Decking and ESP at 7 and FInally Charisma 4..and still had 22 Karma to spend after finally mission reward
