Shadowrun Returns

No sound on Linux
I have ia32-libs installed. I get sound in DotA 2 and most other Steam games, but not this one. Anyone else on Linux playing this game?

Which version of Linux are you rocking?
Kirchhoff Jan 17, 2014 @ 4:55pm
Mint, so Ubuntu. I actually got things working by creating a symbolic link from /usr/lib/libopenal.so.1 to the game folder (~/SteamLibray/SteamApps....)

It didn't work at first, but for some reason now it is, so I'm not touching anything. Really loving the game so far.

Well, now it's broken again. I'm pretty sure the most recent Shadowrun update caused my audio to stop working. I am 95% sure Shadowrun updated first, then I tried updating my system, but there's a small chance it could be the system update that broke the audio and that the Shadowrun update was just coincidental.

I'm running Linux Mint 16, 64-bit edition. I have ia32-libs installed as well as ubuntu-restricted-extras. Basically I have tried everything in this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/107200/discussions/0/846940249024195945/ and applying it to Shadowrun.

I am out of ideas. Please help.
Hmm not sure if I have any ideas, but can report that I'm running Mint 16 XFCE 64 and I have sound.

I'm using my motherboards integrated sound.

Debian, no sound issues.
Alsa, pulse?

Default Source: alsa_input.pci-0000_01_06.0.analog-stereo

Client Information:

Linked to Library Version: 3.0.0
Compiled with Library Version: 1.1.0

For those of you with working audio on 64 bit Linux, I have a few questions:

-Does your ~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Shadowrun Returns folder contain a libopenal.so link. If yes, where does it point to?

-Do you have ia32-libs installed?

-Do you have ubuntu-restricted-extras installed?

-Is there anything else relavennt you think I should know?

Thank you very much.

@Kirchhoff,

Throw me an email via info@hbs-studios.com (with a link to this thread so I can tie things together). I'm on Ubuntu here in the office, so we'll coordinate and see if we can figure this out.

So I had a similar issue and found that for whaterver reason 'FMOD ex app' was set to mute in my pulse audio running application sound settings.

I'm on Linux Mint 13 64bit.

Same here, sound was off by default but I could just increase the application volume in pavucontrol and everything was fine.
In my case, it does not shows up on pavucontrol. Moreover, in the starting log, I get

AudioManager: Using Unknown: NoSound Driver

Does not sound good.

I have sound on other games (CK2, Polybridge, etc)

I solved this by installing alsa-plugins (known as libasound2-plugins on Debian-based distros)
