There's a re-imagining of Diablo 1 on here called Book of Demons, is pretty good
The original Diablo has not aged well and was never officially re-masteted, so that version would be a hard sell compared to how D2R looks and plays.
For anyone who loves the original Diablo, it's a must play with the HD mod (Belzebub):
https://mod.diablo.noktis.pl/
This is one of the best mods I've ever seen -- improves resolution and adds wide screen support, improves the UI, adds back the quests that were removed from the original, adds single-player difficult levels, adds/refines some of the spells, and even adds back some of the uniques that were drafted but never added to the game.

I haven't played D4.
D2 LOD/Resurrected (real great remaster, same studio that made Tony Hawk remake)
D4 VOH
D3 ROS

the game where you can flag someone hostile in outdoors (without entering to the town), instantly kill and steal their items...
