Why Does Everyone Hate Blizzard?
I’ve noticed a growing wave of negativity towards Activision Blizzard, and as someone who’s not terminally online, I’m a bit out of the loop. Can anyone shed some light on why there seems to be such widespread hate for the company? All insights are appreciated!

The sexual harassment, battlepass within battlepass, adding meme operators instead of making maps, or just blatant false advertising with OW2? I’m sure I’m missing plenty

1. During a blizzcon when they announced a mobile game Diablo instead of D4 the crowd universally boo'd and heckled them to heck and back. Their response? "Do you all not have phones?"

2. To sell digital product they reskinned Overwatch, slapped a 2 on it, killed the servers for it and didn't let any of your skins, bought or earned, transfer over. They also based the sequel on it having an ARPG PvE component down the line. They were still promoting that feature for a good year and a half AFTER it was officially cancelled internally and announced then later publicly they couldn't do it..

3. They 'remastered' Warcraft 3. They did the BARE MINIMUM with the remaster to sell it to fans for the full price. 90% of the promised features, weren't there, such to the fact blizzard had to take down the original advertisement website to not get charged with bait and switch.

4. Diablo 4 released with no endgame (Do nightmare dungeons forever to get the exact same loot you're wearing except the variable bonus %s might be 1 or 2 points better), broken mechanics (Resistences are only NOW being fixed, being chain stunned by mob CC is a thing, weak as tissue paper world bosses, whenever a player is on screen your game loads their entire likely filled stashes, weak classes getting nerfed, strong classes being nerfed, seasons that promote new enemies which are reskins of old enemies... the list is extensive), a whale in game shop (most armor sets are 20-30 bucks american, horse armor is around 10), always online, Nightmare dungeons are literally all the same - the texture set varies but the layouts are 100% copy and paste, the campaign can legitly be finished at level 30-40... level cap is 100.

And that's just the blizzard side of things. Add activision and then there's the mire that is CoD.

It goes deeper and further back than that.
Essentially they went from the studio that could literally do no wrong up until World of Warcraft to Rockstars with the success of WoW.

Then they went from World Famous Rockstars with WoW to have their head way up in there with WotLK. With Diablo 3 they decided to insult back their fanbase and even got their own Penny Arcade strip about it and the entire casual and gaming media decided to gang up on Diablo fans.

Then they got themselves involved with Kotaku and Ign with one very infamous interview in which the reporter wanted to make the interview about gender disparity to which the developer responded with "wtf are you on about?" and Blizzard later bent the knee apologizing.

After they that they became ♥♥♥♥♥ up rockstars showing up late to their own concerts, playing a few of their hits at times, got into fights with their fans and blew them off in more than one occasion (See the post above for concrete examples).

With Diablo IV and Modern Warfare III they are returning to the scene claiming they are now clean and sober but barely anyone is buying it.

Fan relations aside, they are killing it on the stock market all 2023, so Steam Forum b*ing does not reflect reality.

My personal row to hoe: "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times!"

This phrase, uttered by Blitzchung after he won in a Hearthstone tournament in 2019 got his winnings revoked and the two announcers that were literally just there fired because he had embarrassed the Chinese government in public, calling them out for the horrific abuse perpetrated on the citizens of Hong Kong at the time. Blitzchung lost $10k, and the right to participate in further sanctioned tournaments for a year. The punishment was so notably harsh that Blizzard was openly rebuked by the public and member of the US government for an obvious kow-tow to China. It was seen as a moral failure on Blizzard’s part, who clearly chose the money in China over human rights.

So, while the people of Hong Kong were being dragged out of their homes and subjected to police brutality just for thinking they should have a voice in their government, which was exactly what China agreed to in taking Hong Kong back from the British, Blizzard and its fans cheered. I was a fan. I played WoW since vanilla, and OW up until that time, and Blizzard broke our hearts.

So no, I won’t be playing this either. I hope every game Blizz attaches to Steam gets review-bombed to hell and back.

-Is this an out of april fool's joke
-Soooooo greedy now a day
-China related events and them sucking the china government like good boi.
-Probably more lol

Let's just say Blizzard died when it stopped being Blizzard North

I think in Diablo 3. Blizzard had like a system that could only be maxed out if you spent something like $50,000 USD. ANd once you spent that amount it unlocked a new system you could spend more money in. The amount could be off? Maybe it was 10,000 USD and then the new system was like $50,000. But any company that includes like an extra set of tier that unlocks after spending anywhere near that amount of money is just them milking the whales. Instead of making a game that is good.

Even the whales screwed themselves as once you spend so much you can only play PVP by yourself. lol And then eventually D3 will be taken down. Servers will be gone. I'm glad I spent no money. Diablo 3 was worse than Diablo 2 and it only got worse from there.

If we were talking about any other company I would say you are exaggerating but I have seen the prices oh and check out the prices for Blizzcon, at this point they should admit their intended target audience are members of the Saudi Arabian Royalty and the rest are like there...

You are talking about Diablo Immortal, we do not talk about this one. It should just die lol

The only thing I saw from this that was wrong was "it and didn't let any of your skins, bought or earned, transfer over."

They had the Account Merge feature which allowed people to merge all progress, skins and other stuff to move from OW1 over to OW2 as well if you played the games on console and gained skins and other rewards on those, it combined them into the PC person so you can swap between the two and share all the progress between the different versions.
