any atheists enjoying the game?
What do you think? it´is really sinister to see how Middle Age was backward due to Christianity, during Roman Empire, Europe was much more advanced.

No offense, but your understanding of History is very simplistic.

I don't believe in god, santa the easter bunny or any other nonsense myth and I am playing this game, Religion does not matter, you either play it or you don't.
Guys, I´ve created this topic solely to share my thoughts about how backwards and bad were the Middle Ages, due to massive misery, knowledge and poverty that Europe endured for centuries after the collapse of the Roman Empire, the greatest and most vast empire that ever existed, an empire with a huge legacy, for instance: the romance languages, our alphabet and much more.

Of course atheists can enjoy it. I am not religious, but I love the Middle Ages and exploring history from a cultural perspective. It doesn't matter if it was "backwards" or not, making that sort of judgement is completely besides the point. It's about experiencing what it meant to be human at that time.

You called the age of roman polytheism more advanced? Clearly you didnt study history. The roman empire was mroe fervent in their beliefs then the christians. They threw them to the lions in collesium. I suppose this is advanced in some way? Or maybe the destruction of the temple of jerusalem, one of the wonders of the ancient worlds architecture? Though I claim no religion as my own I do believe in ones right to believe or not to. The dark ages came about because of the roman empires collapse and all the territories with no leadership went into a sort of turmoil trying to birth the new systems of governance. To each their own, one doesnt need to claim justification through "steam game commentary".And if you are under the illusion modern atheism is not a new religion of non belief with twitter scientists as the new preisthood youre deluded. To the 'romans literally began chrisitanity, this is false. Modern chrisitanity was first moved into rome by peter, then promoted as well by paul, both Jews. constantine saw the writing on the wall and claimed chrisitanity as the new state religion, and brande dit ROMAN Catholic. Yet many offshoots exsisted and mad eit to this day. They did not literally create christianity, they usurped it and used it to control the masses of people who were spiritually changing. so the they molded it theor own. Saints became a new pantheon. I coudl go on and on. But I fear it would not do much good here.

The majority of the political problems in the middle ages can be traced back to Diocleatians refoms (which created the guild system and kickstarted fuedalism), and the Increased orginizations of the Germans (which forced cities to fortify the need for these would be the bedrock of fuedalism). Saying cristianity is in any signifigant part responisble for the large scale dessolation of the west is silly. Christianity was one of the few things working in the empire when it fell which is why it outlived it. Evem characterisng the dark ages as some pit where tecnology went to dies is false. Arictitecture contunied to improve in the immediate collapse. Innovations slowed yes, but this can be attributed to the collapse of the economy and population of the west. Not Christianity.

I am thoroughly enjoying it as an atheist. The character I feel most intwined with is Aliena, for the reason of her story, her behaviours, her suffering and likeness to me. I've really been surprised at how great this game is, its amazing.

NO ONE needs to be Christian to read a story, for God's sake.

It's a story, not intended to make uncomfortable those who have different spiritual beliefs. I don't believe in Zeus, but it doesn't spoil my love of mythology.

Get real.:steamfacepalm:

I enjoyed the book and I don't go to church. I think a really devout christian would be more likely to struggle with the content and portrayals in the book than someone without any horse in the race, so to speak.

It wasnt like the game was taking a stance about religion. It was just showing the power of the church. (at the time)

Nice try, ♥♥♥♥♥♥. He uses names of places and historical figures and that's about it. Nothing about how the Church actually operated, or how miracles were deemed to be miracles, was even remotely accurate. Then again, atheists are all idiots, they wouldn't be atheists otherwise, so it makes sense why they would flock to Ken Follett's works, considering that both the game, and the book, are Mary Sue riddled, borderline-Protestant, trash.
Wow! G Willikers is 100% sarcastically correct.

Why don't you read the Bible again and quit calling atheists (and, no, I'm not an atheist) idiots.

Specifically, this:

Matthew 22:35-40 King James Version (KJV)

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Atheists, Muslims, Jews, agnostics, Hindus, Sikhs and others are YOUR NEIGHBORS.

Maybe they are your neighbors, but they are not mine lmaooo.

Jews will pay for what they did to Christ, Muslims will pay for what they did to Eastern Europe & the holy land, agnostics are a meme.
