Game is awesome, its flawless and brings the chill to my spine. Game of the year!
Maybe you should try and review Minecraft?
Or space engineers, I suggest you go complain about that. This is the FIRST Mad Max game ever. Is there room for improvement? sure. But this is the first COMPLETE, works staright out of the box, or in my case, Download, and its fun. Sorry OP didn't like it, but I haven't been able to put it down.
Sorry to burst your bubble. but this game is far from flawless, maybe you should read up the full post instead of replying in less than a minute of posting this?
there's this thing they call, you know, debate!
how about you put forth your case for your GOTY nomination? there are so many other games worthy of the title but this one doesn't even come close.
PS it's not that I don't like it, it's just not worth the disproportionate amount of time spent on it for the limited options they give.
I'll throw down and say that so far (about 12 hours in) I'm still loving it and I'm satisfied with my purchase. Saying that, I bought it for a little over 50% off. I think Mad Max is a very nice game, but it's definitely not one that stands for a $60 price tag.
...But then again, name a AAA title in the last few years that HAS deserved its full price.
The game is so well optimize you can run this on old gear too.
As for content? Well if you follow the story and play/ pick up relics and read through the game then you are in for a treat, if you wish to rush the game to finish it then yeah of course you will be like OP where you will have no clue what happened.
I have yet to finish the game, I doubt 30hrs suffice to fully enjoy it that is my opinion.
1st of all it's closer to 65 hours deducting the times I forgot to close.
2nd of all, what did I miss? there's nothing to miss, just more grind. I aleady cleaned jeet's, Gutgash's, and deep friah's territories along with their projects, only pink eye's area is at the lower second threat level. so again, what did I miss? NOTHING, just more grinding (and that includes relics, they add nothing to the game except the obligatory collectibles component, no rewards for them and nothing special about them). without the grind, this game wouldn't take two hours. on the other hand, try batman, any one of them; just the story playthrough without anything else will take a minimum of 8 hours of non-padded gameplay.
and I still have yet to see you debate any of my points, just because you labeled me a casual gamer for some reason doesn't make my woes with this game any less valid. Grinding is not hardcore. otherwise we would have to step aside for candy crush addicts as the new generation of "Hardcore gamers".
I bought it for 19 Euro, and I think it's worth it.
I like playing games, where you have much to do, and sometimes simple forget, why you were out here in the first place.
Reminds me a bit of daggerfall, where I never ever thought about the mainstory, after 2 hours ingame.
This is a game for people who think, that the way is the goal.
But it is absolutly nothing for people who play games for a story, or like "pipe level" maps and a straightforward gameplay.
This game has no story. It's one big sandbox, and if you do not like that sort of pure sandboxplay, you better not buy this game. It would be like buying Evolve, if you are not into multiplayer.
I think we both bought it from the same place.
though that's a philosophy I can respect even if it's not the way I like my games.
Nothing special.
just make sure you start it during a weekend or anytime you don't have other things to do because it will eat at them.
Notice he didn't come on here to complain about how bad the game was until he finished the game?
Games are suppose to be finished, they are suppose to take up your time as you play them, but if the game was really that un-enjoyable for you, you wouldn't have finished it.
So far i think that they've done a hell of a job on the first Mad Max game, and for $23 it's a bargain. I don't usually buy SP Games, but i did buy this one, and it's great.
The things you say are "grindy" are apart of any game you play, the entire purpose of having things to do outside of the main story is to collect those items, clear those camps, and play the actual game.
Personally i think you can only play a SP Game 1 of 2 ways.
1. You start the game, play the main story line to a certain point ( in this case, strongholds ) and then start clearing all the "Collectables" and Camps or what have you, and once you've finished each area/zone, you move on with the story line. ( This is currently how i'm playing MM )
2. You get through the main story as fast as you can and then start clearing all the side quests/collectables etc.
The fact you are upset at the fact that you think their version of "Open World" is not "Open World" is silly, because what do you ask for in an open world? basically a living world with different weather effects and AI's doing their own thing. MM Take it even further by adding in the storms ( Which are awesome ) So yea, This is as Open World as it gets for a SP game.
The driving is not bad at all, i've seen so many people complaining about the driving but to tell you the truth i think it's just a minority of salty peasants who aren't very good.
Can the driving be better? Sure. - Is it game breaking? No.
The fighting is pretty much identical to the Batman Series, obviously with less gadgets.
The shooting is pretty standard for this type of game, You would imagine the gun would be pretty horrible as it's probably made from scrap metal, and you would imagine there not being an abundance of ammo for shooting, so shooting isn't your main go-to thing.
The main way you should be fighting is vehicla warefare. And i think they've done a great job at it, I could even see a multiplayer DESTRUCTION DERBY type version where everyone is in stock vehicles with no weapons/harpoons and the only way you lose is if your car blows up.
The real bottom line here is, ask yourself this : Was $19 Euro, Worth 60+ hours of entertainment?
I'm not sure what $19 Euro can purchase you entertainment wise, but i know that $35 that i spent ( AU, earlier i said 23 which was US ) - Would cover 1 2hour long movie at the cinemas with my girlfriend.
So 2hours vs 60+ hours? Yeah, worth the purchase, and it does it's job which is entertaining me.
