Same here. Started when I upgraded my graphics card to NVidia from my old ATI

Just went and solved it. It's a problem on both the part of Steam and the game.

The issue is that the neither Steam nor the game can find a default configuration to run with for graphics settings etc. The fix is pretty simple though:

1. Try to run the game once. (This is very important).

2. Go to "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\".

3. Copy and paste the folder "MercurySteam" into your "My Documents" folder.

4. Rename "Castlevania.localcfg" inside "CastlevaniaLoS" within the pasted "MercurySteam" directory to "Castlevania.cfg".

5. Run the game. Should work absolutely fine now :)

Hope that helps!

i cant find the AppData folder in my username folder
.

It's hidden. You need to type the directory in manually inside an explorer window.

Sorry, is the folder created once i complete downloading and installing the game? I'm using steam also.

The folder should be created when you first try to run the game. Just go to your start menu and type "C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local" and look for the MercurySteam folder there after you've tried to launch the game.

Theres supposedly another fix by right clicking the game and typing windowed mode under launh options. Does that work? Btw, i havent finished installing the game and have yet to encounter the crash issue. Hoping i dont. Im seeking out fixes in anticipation of problems.

Personally it didn't for me. I fired up process monitor to work out what the issue was, and in my case it was missing configuration files. The game was trying to find Castlevania.cfg and crashing right away after. The sign to look out for is a window that says something along the lines of "CastlevaniaLoS has stopped working APPCRASH" etc etc. If that happens it'll be likely that this is the fix that you need to do.

Thanks darren1104. You work for steam or konami or something? Anyway, thanks in advance in case i encounter the crash issue and fix it with your solution.

The DLC is included in the main game itself. The vanilla game areas have blue color on the world map, but the DLC is green.
