I know Lords of Shadow since I played it back in the days on the Xbox 360, and I just bought it back on Steam with its sequel, and playing it again, it's so good.
The tragic tale of a man, Gabriel Belmont, who lost everything, and now takes every risk to save humanity, without receiving anything in return. The game may have aged a bit in its mechanics, but the story, the soundtrack, the voice acting... the whole thing gives chills...
I've never played the sequel, at the time of its release, it had not been very well noted, precisely because of the old-fashioned beat em all gameplay, but it's time to give these Castlevania reboots the love they deserve!
