Pretty chill game so far, a few issues with falling through walls and camera collision, but fun gameplay ideas. The story progression is being worked on, I believe, but the NPC storylines in connection to the main is decent. For early access its doing a decent job

really enjoyable!! despite being boring and same-y and lacking a big uniqueness factor that actually gives you a reason to play this one over literally any other jrpg. it's charming on the surface without any legitimate draw kinda like how Genshin Impact; it's pretty, with neat looking characters, somewhat interesting world, but you play in a couple-hour increments going "ok!" and "neat." the whole time while trying to hurry it along to the interesting stuff, or stumble around blindly praying it'll find you first.

obviously it being Early Access atm means its nowhere near being the full image of completion or anything, so for what there is i think the price is honestly way too high. I did get it on sale for $17 which i think is more reasonable & i don't regret it! but $24.99 right now..? in early access? idk.. just a tad too high for the mediocre content (right now).

i WILL say again though that i am enjoying tales of seikyu and want to play more! it is an Enjoyable experience for me that i DO recommend to others! there's plenty of silly/fun moments, and i absolutely love our fox sister kon (shes so funny and cute and i need to protect her!!) and the ability to change into different forms of yokai (and Being a fox ourself!) is really quite awesome! (i do think it's only this cool to me because i havent played any other game similar to this that has a feature like that... but if you've seen it before it might seem very boring comparatively...)
i personally love this ability and it's the main reason i even wanted to play in the first place (this was my 'main draw') but was a little disappointed that you have to work to unlock the actual fox transformation ability... i think it's worth it despite all of this though. The weird little rivalry we have going on with the tanuki, the characters with secrets, mini surprises that actually got me (the damn cat guy.... iykyk), and (mainly) our sister kon.. There's plenty of love interests too, but i still think it could benefit from much more variety, and am looking forward to the three newcomers before i decide anything!
(and if anyones curious, none of the LI's are gender locked! you can date anyone no matter the body you choose in the beginning. i've noticed everyone they/them's the main character anyway so it doesn't really matter. only really effects the clothes you wear, which Are gender locked in appearance at least!)
(however i'm like 90% certain there's no polyamory in this... so if you try i think it's considered cheating? i havent done any of the romance routes so idk for sure though but. well, hopefully they will change this!)

All that being said there's also lots of lacking QoL and basic visual stuff; animations are pretty robotic. the only thing that caught my attention as having particular effort is the 'turn' animation cycle in different animals and such.. and the odd cutscene or two has better anim. otherwise everyone is walking in a straight line just to stop and stand still, or already fully static just with an idle animation. they dont really feel "Alive" or like People.. they're very shallow, and it takes effort to really care about anyone in the overworld. I strangely feel more connected to them when they're 2d sprites talking to me! Their expressions only change in the sprites and i really hope this changes, because the 3d models feel more like dolls while the sprites are "actually" them.

The main thing i struggled with is navigating the settings with a controller.... I have to set it down and use the keyboard instead when i want to change anything; actually adjusting settings w controller or clicking buttons is a nightmare.. (I use a Dualshock/Ps4 Controller, if anyone is looking for compatibility for this game). Otherwise while playing it works mostly fine! the fishing minigame is 100% broken with controller though. completely impossible to do. you have to use keyboard for that, unfortch!

anyway i think it's worth it just don't go in expecting a full game. remind yourself it's still "Early Access" (and will be for quite a few more months still!) and you'll have fun!!

The story of Tales of Seikyu is very interesting and well-written. The NPCs stories are developped and you get to know them little by little as the heart bar progress.

The quests are not too complicated and the main ones are not limited in time, so you can relax and play the game to the rythm that is best for you, alterning the quests with farming, mining, ranching, fishing, etc.

The different forms are really fun, each have their advantages and inconvenients, and the system to upgrade the forms is well-done.

The graphics are gorgeous, the world is vast and you can teleport to certain points.

The music is so, so beautiful!

All in all, a really great game that I enjoy playing a lot!

2 small cons: sometimes, the music's volume seems to go up in a noticeable way, it's not in combat or anything story-related, it's in the evening sometimes. Maybe it's a small bug that will get fixed.

Also, while in combat, you can "jump-attack", which is a method I use a lot. Well, if the sister is too near, the dialogue box for changing her appearance will pop up instead of the avatar jumping, which is really annoying.
