You won’t get any games exactly like kenshi because it’s a unique game. But if you do like kenshi and want a game like it, then you would probably like Mount & Blade too
unlikely similar yes
Minecraft
ya do whatever you want there and mod add quests
Project zomboid ya solo currently and no NPC anytime soon but it is planned
that it. game with build base and do quest stuff

You don't have a team of characters to control (though there's the option of playing co-op), but I bring it up due to the difficulty and exploration.
Like Kenshi, it's a big world out there, and when you leave town, you're not at all safe, and there's a lot to discover.
Project Zomboid is also similar, and very good game to boot. Still being developed, it's already a massive game, though obviously you won't meet as many npcs in it as in Kenshi. (Well, alive npcs anyway.)
Mount and Blade games, abviously.
NEO Scavanger is a great game, though there's less similarities with Kenshi in this one than the ones I mentioned above.

Oh man, I forgot about Caravaneer!
Don't remember if I played the second one (definitely not on Steam, but I think maybe a bit way back when before it came here?), but I loved the first one.
There are certainly certain aspects that are Kenshi-like, with the desert, and having a group, and needing supplies.
Looking at the store page, in the "More like this" section, I was also reminded of another game:

Single character, and an RPG, but the strange world reminds me a bit of Kenshi. Somewhat fantasy/medieval, but with some technology as well.
Combat can be fairly tough, iirc, but it's a game with lots of varied skills, and notable for allowing the player many paths forward. It's entirely possible to get through the game without fighting at all.
Specialization is key. If you try to be a jack of all trades, you'll suffer.

It actually shares the engine with The Age of Decadence.
Check it out and subscribe for more.

Of course, as others have said, there's only one Kenshi.
hmmm.....also a few suggestions of my own for anyone interested
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1424710/Geneforge_1__Mutagen/ while not really like kenshi in game-play its got a similar vibe when discovering ancient lost secrets
also ditto on this one by the same dev https://store.steampowered.com/app/208400/Avernum_Escape_From_the_Pit/?curator_clanid=32967543&curator_listid=44191
