Kenshi
How do you "extract" items from a mod you like for personal use?
Hello, I really like elements done in UWE but some I don't. Is there a proper way to extract the armors/weapons and food lets say and keep them for my playthrough?

I don't think I can safely remove the elements I don't like without breaking the game. I doubt I can patch it either, because one of the issues I have with are general town modifications. I like playing with large squads so in my last playthrough The Hub had like 800 characters total. Not only it doesn't make sense it breaks behaviour of the chars and it lags. Also the structural modifications go along with the mod, but I prefer vanilla.

To clarify, I'm interested in keeping only the food/farm aspect along with the armors/weapons.

How would you guys proceed?

easiest way would be to move mod in question to the kenshi mod folder then rename it to match the .mod name.
open the FCS, load said mod, then load the list of all changes made. click each one you don't want and delete that part.
if you mess up in some way, you just have to move the mod folder back over again then you can redo it.

Well, that's a bit wonky, mostly because the location for modding files differ depending from where do you get them. Mods downloaded from external sites, like Nexus, can be put directly into the mod folder, and whenever you boot up FCS, they'll be displayed there so you can use it to make modifications, or use it as reference.

However, when you subscribe to mods from Steam Workshop, they end up in a different folder, which the FCS cannot scan. It does load them normally, but you cannot modify them.

The method I "usually" do in order to merge mods, is to move the mod file I want to modify from the "Workshop" folder to the "Mods" folder inside the "Kenshi" local files. That way, the FCS will load the mod, and then you make a new mod, select the "Merge Mod" option on the tools area and then select what you want to import from said mod. After that, just move the mod folder back to the "Workshop" folder and you should be good.

Thank you, that sound reasonable, will try it out.

Don't forget to do as Hatsune spoke and rename the folder to match the ".mod" one, otherwise, the FCS won't be able to read and load it. I don't know why that happens, but it does. Kenshi is a bit wonky.
