Kenshi

Why can't my people fight?
I trained all of my people to level 10 in offensive and defensive and they still lose against bandits. We have crappy armor but good weapons. I have a guy that has a pipe that does 1.6 blunt damage, but he can't fight bandits at all. I removed helmets because they ruin combat skills. I have tried 3 times to fight bandits. My men were all knocked out and the bandits lost like 3 out of 7. WTF I have 9 people!

your people are not supers
once they get to lvl 30 in attack and defence you start having less caausalties, but you will still have them.
some examples of a decently trained lone player.

And this still happens time after time.

How do you train? I have used lvl 2 dummies before.

and that my friend is Kenshi in a nutshell.
You are not the hero, you are not special, everyone in the game can kick your tush from here till tomarrow untill you train up. and even then, thats no garunte you wont have people knocked out durring battles.
Playing Kenshi requires patiance and stratagy.
and the number one stratagy in Kenshi is.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try reading some of the guides that are posted.

Then how do I train my troops if I am running away????
Nemund Mar 3, 2014 @ 10:34pm
My method is get 20. Then train on lvl 3 dummies to 13/14 attack, then equip sabres, then go out and attack people with a horde. Numbers mean a lot. With 20 untrained guys I took down a ninja jounin. Simply because I had him surrounded.

How do you get so many people so quickly??? My max ever gotten was 9

Train some bandits to the nearest patrol or outpost and help them, over time your stats will raise. (loot/sell)

to increase your strengh you must always walk overloaded so you can have the max xp bonus (12%)
over time your strengh will raise and high strengh = big hits and big hits = a bandit killed in one hit if hit in the head, torso or stomach.
A 1.6 blunt dmg weapon is not so good, if you want good weapons you will have to craft up to lvl 14 weapons. a lvl heavy club this is almost 5.0 damages.
and last, use the heaviest armors.
And then your warriors will wipe the floor with all the bandits, ninjas etc.

Wait, how do I train bandits?
Drakken Mar 7, 2014 @ 1:30am
as soon as they are chasing you, run to the nearest outpost or patrol.

Sorry about the word "train", it is for MMORPG old timers..

This is a train. a train of monsters, in our case a train of cannibals or bandits.

Think about it like this. Your characters are people who have never fought before you got them. Bandits are people who kill people for a living. They've got way more practice than you.

So here's some tios for surviving:
First: manage your equipment! At low level the stat changes from armor and weapons impacts you a lot, and can reduce your skills to negative values even.

Second: I don't personally approve of purposefully leading enemies to city guards, it just feels like a cheese tactic. That said, it can be very effective. Maybe even just wait in town for it to be attacked normally, then join in. (Clownsteady gets attacked all the time). You can also try travelling with friendly squads, and helping them when they get attacked.

Third: DEFENSE! Defense is incredibly important. You can't even stay alive to train other skills, such as attack, without it. So here's a quick tactic, that usually wins, and will let you train up defense. Take 1 or 2 people in your group, and set them to "Taunt" and and "Blocks Only". This will make all enemies attack those two (unless a bandit is being attacked by someone else, then they turn to their attacker). The Blocks Only will prevent the taunters from attacking, allowing them better chance of defending, AND increase defense skill by 20 while enabled. The remainder of your men can use "Attack Target" (by holding right click on an enemy) to single out bandits to either gang up on them or get 1-on-1 fights. The non-taunters will have a relatively safe way to level up attack through this too. You can rotate out your taunters till your whole squad has a good natural defense skill.

Fourth: Medic! Some people like to leave a person with medical supplies further back, away from the fight. That way, if you lose, you can have the medic come in and heal people after the enemies have left.

Fifth: Training. The speed at which your skills grow is based off the current skill value, not the natural skill value. So if you wear a backpack to reduce your defense and attack, you'll be able to train defense and attack faster. Just be aware that this can also be dangerous.

In every town there are four people you can hire. Two inns per town, 2 people per inn. I like the dead nothing start, I run around till I find a merchant, then i just go on follow. I wait till he hits some bandits, then I loot any bodies afterwards. (Assuming he wins, if not I run away). If you get really lucky one of the guards or the merchant themselves will be knocked out and you can loot them mid fight while they are knocked out currently. (Bit cheesy, if you don't like this just loot the bandits after the fight).
This gives you enough cats to hire most of your 20 Kenshi assuming they are all starting 1's. Then I find a small bandit squad that I outnumber 4 to 1 or better, normally because they just fought someone else, or do escort the merchant missions. Loot away as you travel. And you will skill up.

The other amazing way to skill is 20 guys vs a Ninja Jounin. He is epic, but you have 20. And if you use a medic or two, by the time he knocks the third or fourth guy down, the first guy is back up and in the fight again, and you will kill him and gain LOADS of skills on the guys fighting him (I saw one guy gain 2 points of defence in a single attack).
