Makeshift walls upgrade?

So i just started playing after a longtime, and i cant upgrade my already made walls to the next level, defensive walls, do i have to now dismantle all my walls and the makeshift gate, or is it just being buggy and can i save and exit then comeback in?

if it doesnt have a upgrade option, its not upgradable.

So i need to dismantle all my level one walls just to build lvl two walls? When i played forever ago i could just choose to upgrade the already standing walls to the next level.

yep
the wall upgrades changed.
the top two tier walls also require being remade anew.

if you rebuild your walls in the same spot. you will have to dismantle and rebuild you walls 2 times.

There's a better solution: Don't build walls at all - they just break the pathfinding

I found out that dismantling the walls is done in a split second instead of the characters actually slowly dismantling them like they do everything else so its no longer heartbreaking, and that doesnt really sound like a solution, cause then ive got bandits and animals just walking right up and knocking my ppl out.

you should still be able to upgrade them, is the button not appearing?

It hasnt each time ive researched new walls, but the dismantling is instant which makes it less frustrating, so i just dismantled and then rebuilt the better walls
