Re-validating files had no effect.
Then I uninstalled, deleted everything, and downloaded again.
Same problem persists: Clothing, hair and staff are visible but nothing else.
If I press Escape and then Exit, the game crashed with a message that "The game encountered an error."
System details: Playing via CrossOver (a Wine-ish port) on an M1 Mac. Which I suspect is not officially supported. ;-) Likely more a CrossOver/Mac issue than a Kenshi issue. Will check CrossOver-related forums for related info.
PS- Not just during character creation. If I start the game as a Wanderer in a town, *nobody* has bodies. It's just a bunch of moving disembodied clothes & hair lol
best i can offer is to partition part of your drive and install windows on it.
This is generally a good idea for Mac users with x64 chips, but unfortunately OP has an M1.
