cannot create a weapon smith 3 at tech level 5

pretty self explanatory, there is not option to upgrade my level 2 smith or to build a smith III at my outpost. i've tried reloading the save but it's still not working. anyone else had this bug? I'm definitely at tech level 5 because tech level 6 is in my core research options, I've researched some advanced weapon stuff too so I should be able to make MK II weapons but since I can't make a smith III i'm limited at catun 3

Sounds to me like either you're missing the "Advanced Weapon Smithing II" tech, or you have a mod that is changing the tech or building.

huh, I guess so. it's weird because there's actually a "weapon smith III" in the list of crafting facilities but idk where that corresponds to in the world

So you do have it in the building list? Have you tried building one?

oh no i meant in the tab in the menu there's apparently one, i can only build a level 2 smith. so weird lol maybe i'm dumb i'll triple check my researches

omg.. i researched the advanced weapons grades up to 4 but not the advanced weapons smithing 2 i'm so sorry
