I have a issue with kenshi, just KENSHI, when i play this game like half hours I heard a sounds like "brrrrrrrrr!!!" I cant expain details about the sounds because its little hard to explain that then this game freeze and force restarting my pc, im confusing right now, I tried to updating my driver, uninstalling my windows, checkingmy temperature seems fine and this issue still got me. I have maybe 30 mods. This issue just happens in Kenshi, when I play other games heavier than kenshi, my PC seems fine and goods, sorry for my bad english, I hate this really I love this game but this issue make me scared to play this game anymore

You say you play heavier games than Kenshi but how many are CPU intensive? Plus there can be other issues like a hardware fault that only shows up in certain circumstances or a driver error that appears only when certain game engines are in use (like the ancient one that Kenshi uses).

Anyway there should be logs that can help the moderators here understand what is happening in your copy and may be able to suggest a fix for.

I play other games like RDR2, FC6, ARMA3 etc and seems fine, I dont know about CPU Intensive, I tried to change my driver from official to Nimez and this problem still happens, so where I can find a logs then?

First: what are your computer specs, especially how much RAM you got?

Specs look good to me, it should work fine. Does the game crash? If, send the entire crashdump

The brrrrr is likely a cooling fan spooling up. Figure out which it is by checking CPU and GPU usage and that will give you an idea of what is going on.

You can also try turning on VSynch if it's not already, see if that helps since it caps your FPS.

I bought this game a few weeks ago when it was on sale. For the first day it probably crashed more than two dozen times, sometimes in very weird ways, like crashing my entire PC.

Turns out it was eating up all my RAM (I have 32GB). If you're using Windows, open up the resource monitor, specifically the memory tab. Make sure there aren't multiple instances of Kenshi in use, using up all your RAM. I solved my problem by manually making sure Kenshi was not gobbling up all my RAM after it closed (via right click> End Process), because it doesn't seem to "end" when you close the game a lot of the time, at least for my system (and it could just be my system at fault in combination with the game). Haven't had a crash since.

Ofc, I also adjusted some of the other in-game settings so that the "buildup" of its memory use wasn't nearly as fast.

OP, you say you jumped to reinstall windows already? BUT did you validate steam game files yet?

You mentioned monitoring your system temperatures right? BUT you can't monitor temps when the system hangs and then crashes. Maybe blow out dust and cat fur if not already.

As somebody posted, sounds like a cooling fan bearing problem, maybe a fan is seizing up intermittently.

Yeah Kenshi is a horrible RAM hog, it takes all you give it

Kenshi is a beast and gives out zero sympathy. Give an inch and it takes a mile. Game is demanding.

Im not having this particular issue, but this discussion of RAM gobblage has got me thinking of muh frames. Is there a way to maybe lower the engines expectations ram wise so that it is using the ram it needs as opposed every bit of the ram it has access to? Would that reduce CPU strain/bottlenecking maybe? Sorry I'm still in my dunning krueger phase of understanding computers.

Doubt much can be done or at least not in a useable timewindow from the devs side.

It won't gobble up all the ram it got access, there is a limit on it. I'm fairly sure 32 is already excessive for it, even with some bigger mods. I maybe need to check how high i can get it.

Its heavy on the cpu, on a single core ontop. I guess this causes the most issues.

Sorry, I thought I was clear, but I'll try to be even more so.

Usually when you close a game, program, application, etc. it stops using the RAM it was using while running - or releases it so other things can use it (not really sure specifically how it works). This game doesn't seem to, for me at least, more often than not. So, if it's using 6gb (the most I've ever seen this game use for a single instance, "Working Set", Double or Triple that for "Commit"), it wouldn't take many instances for it to climb up to 32gb if it never released that (on close or crash).

When you open the resource monitor and go to the memory tab, you can see what is using your memory. Every time I exit the game, after it closes, I click on the kenshi_x64.exe that shouldn't be running and using my RAM anymore and "end process" them, freeing up that memory they were holding on to for whatever reason.

Also, I've yet to use any mods. I'm just glad I figured out what was causing the crashes. Was about to give up on playing the game. Whether my experience is isolated to me or is more common, idk. Figured I'd just mention it in case it does help someone else.

Well, there is a reason why the post wasn't addressed to you.
But i got no issue with that reply to me either.
