hidden inventory on security spiders
After messing around luring security spiders out of a lost armoury and agro-ing them with the wildlife, I sent a character to loot the corpses for meat and to stop the spiders from getting back up, however upon doing so with one of the spiders, it seems that a hidden inventory had been opened as I began looting as soon as the spider 'woke up' Inside the inventory was regular building materials as well as armour and weapons ranging from $7000 to $10,000 in value.

I haven't been able to repeat it by simply opening the looting screen as it takes me to the regular inventory of iron plates, skeleton muscles and electronic components. This occured almost directly north of the cannibal capital at the coast. Has anyone else experienced this before?

I'm unsure which topic to post this under because I don't know whether or not this is a bug, some questions that occured to me:
- What purpose does this secret inventory serve?
- Is it supposed to be accessed in a different way?
- Is this part of an unimplemented feature?
- Am I reading too far into this?

Wondering if this was a case of attempting to loot something while it's unconscious, but having it come to before ya get next to em. When you do get within reach it opens up a type of shopkeepers inventory. I've had this happen with humanoid NPCs on several occassions in the past.

I'm pretty sure it's just matter of wonky timing. So I'm thinkin' ya might be readin' a bit much into it, but I could be wrong.

I'm not sure I understand. Security spider have various robotic component in their "inventory". Once looted they die, like animals.
Now, they only contain that. If you loot weapons/armor from them, it's a bug, and should be reported. Use the bug subforum, say which version of the game you use, describe step by step how you do it (even if it sound dumb), and mention if it's happening all the time or not.

Also make sure it's not a mod issue.

Sounds like it opened the ruin's vendor list as though it was a shop, rather than looting. All the stuff you say was the loot in the ruin.

I'll go ahead and move this over to the bugs section.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks Shidan, I think you're right, after looting the ruin a lot of what I found looks very familiar.

Yeah a case of wonky timing, Logoth. Thats exactly what happened I believe.

This happens somewhat reliably if you attempt to loot right before / just as the enemy's waking up.

I did attempt to replicate it afterwards without any luck, but that was before what I know now. However I don't really like playing in ways that aren't inteded so I'm probably going to leave it alone, It's good to know though :munchsticker:

Basically you gotta give a loot order when you know the target's gonna wake up from unconscious or play dead state. It's easier to force by putting some distance between your character and the one you want to "loot"
