you have to dismantel it and replace it with a new build.
to move objects before placement thou use < and >,
Page Up and Page Down for up and down movement.
But i'm not arguing fantasy vs reality. I'm only stating that it is a major inconvenience that I wish was altered. If you disagree and the feature is implemented, then you can simply never use it. That's your prerogative. But by not including it, and I would think it would not be too difficult to implement, than my options are cut and I lose out.
As far as "other games", many other games with building mechanics allow the player to rearrange their city as they see fit, when they see fit. It is, after-all, their city. And do you mean to tell me that it is unreasonable to ask for the ability to move my own bed to another location....? That is ludicrous.
haha. Yea, i'm still playing and enjoying the game as well. Unfortunately, so many broken and poorly implemented features are still lurking around.
For buildings idk how it would mess up the physics. At that point you could use the Shift f12 menu to outright delete it and recreate it where you want.
Have done this before and as long as you click the fix stuff button after placement then log out and reload in everything seems to work fine. remember click exit not save in the f12 menu
I would like to move a Tech 2 bench inside a Storm House, hopefully getting the thin side under the steps for more efficient use of space. If not possible fine, but thread seems to say it can be done. Thanks for any insights.
shift + F12 and then you click the 'edit interiors' on the right popup and then select any furniture item. Use local axis to move, it is easier for the human brain.
OK, I see it can be done, but, this is VERY fussy, not easy to ensure results... LOL...
If anyone does the f12 shenanigans yo add or move items, be very careful and follow the instructions exactly... because if you don't, it can mess up not only the objects but the save file.
If it's something simple like walls or a chest just take the possible loss of a percentage of resources and rebuild it, less risky that way. A proper base should be overflowing with building materials and iron plates at least. Make sure to empty the contents first before dismantling containers. Shift-dragging the item stacks to a pack beast is what I usually do.
