I REALLY like the vanilla combat animations. I like them because the developer took such care with them to give them good feedback. In a game where there is so much dictated by what "can't be done" they worked really hard on those animations because they could. (It's even more impressive considering the base-mesh and rigging choices... :))
My favorite is the two-handed cleaver/heavy "Baseball Bat" lateral swing... I also like the finely tuned footwork and general body position in the "guarded approach towards enemy" for the katanas/etc.
Kenshi has outstanding "hit feedback." A lot of care went into crafting that and I truly appreciate it - I wouldn't use a combat animations mod.
