Are there any or plan to be different sword fighting styles?
Such as Iaido for example, or do we just swing the sword? If none too bad :(.

there will be hand to hand combat added in the future.
as for more fighting animations like iaido/iaijutsu, it depends on if people can animate it for a cheap enough fee of do it for free.

the combat animations are decent allready but we do not know if the dev will add more for sword fighting. and from the animations i have seen on youtube there really is not much difference except that the sword being drawn and being put away animation.

There's a huge amount of editing that should be made to the current animations. For starters, the elbows shouldn't lock when the weapon is drawn. The shoulders should rotate at the shoulder blade when the sword is in movement. Also some finger animations would also be nice.

There's like a long list of complaints I have about the current animations. I understand that they are place holders and that not much time needed to be spent on them. I could've made those in a good afternoon and I believe that was the intent.

Also I didn't think that iaido was really considered a very practical fighting style. Granted it's incredibly stylistic and I would love to have it in game just because of that.

I support more fighting styles, although I'd rather see new weapon types first (European swords and axes are my preferred choice, followed by polearms of any variety). Seeing a bunch of obviously white guys running around with katanas bothers me.

Given the theme here I wouldent hold my breath for officaly released Western Weaponry.

I'm not either, I'm just saying it would be nice.

Variety is alwayse nice, It could make sence if there was one single faction in game that used them. But meh, modders will probably pick it up. I think there was a concept for a medevial mod on the main forums.

Though there are western inspired weapons ingame. And by western I mean EXTREMELY western.

The Fragment Axe is modeled after an Aztec Macuahuiti. Basicly a wooden club with Prismatic blades of obsidian embedded in the sides.

What do you do when your territory is I'll suited for Iron / copper & tin mining? Why you make swords out of VOLCANIC GLASS of course.

Meh, you'd have to add more fighting stances to the game for it to make cents (Sorry nadlug, had too. You always mispell that word and just that word.)

You will find that wielding a langes schwert in the kendo/kenjutsu style found in game doesn't lead to very promising results. Which I guess has more to do with where the weight is positioned in the sword more than the design. The Kendo style portrayed in game doesn't take advantage of the curved blade of the Katana anyways. So I guess technically the perpendicular angle at which the straight blade would hit the target in this game would provide for better penetration angles.

Unless someone has a counter point then I think I just beat myself in this discussion.

Meh I went to college to learn a skill not how to present a text document publicly. Theres plenty of things I mispell and honestly I cant fathom why anyone on the internet cares so long as they understand what is being said (which is the case 90% of the time)

Then again I could just be really clever and use "Cents" exclusivly. It woudl be a very obscure reference to the fact that i used to play a goblin Warlock in WoW, not that anyone cares.

The single overhead top right to bottom left slash dose have a more appropriate slashing motion but i agree most of the animations are better suited for a hacking/choping type weapons.

The devs used what was avalible because its cheap/free.

Did they? I feel as if they just quickly slapped some animation together and called it good enough until they get further on the development path. As I've said before, I don't have a background in animation or really any 3D artistic desgin. But even I've made better animations. Though to be fair, while it's almost entirely a useless skill on it's own, I seemed to be able to accomplish with no experience what others struggle to do with a year or so under their belt when it comes to animations.

As soon as the ability to add animations are included (Or relevant documentation provided on current capabilities) then I'm absoleutly going to show off to boost my ego. Which has the adverse affect of changing my aspirations. I will begin to feel as if maybe animation is where Ineed to go in life. I will pursue it and run into an obstacle. Not much of an obstacle, just enough to stop my life momentarily. At this point I will look back at what I abandoned, and for the reasons why. I will get upset because in order to pursue animations I took out more student loans. Depression sinks in and I take a semester off of school. Loans come due. The minimum wage job I'm working cannot pay off the payments on the loans. Default on the loans. Future is now sealed, I will be stuck working retail the rest of my life.

And this was the story about how lack of discipline and direction in life can lead to ones downfall.

I have too much of a Migrane right now to put any effort into a post. Other than that im almost certain that it has been stated at some point that the animations and human models + weapons ingame were public domain. I could be wrong though.

Someone will come along and confirm or debunk my statement for me.

You're right, Mystic is wrong. Animations are not credited to anyone therefor they have to be free public work.

Wish Mystic would shut-up, he's getting really annoying.
