Need a safe place, suggestions?
I am a new player just learning the basics, I have 8 players and a couple pack animals, none of them are able to win a fight. I just want to experience and learn base building, I need a safe location, I can pay taxes etc. and willing to sacrifice farming and mining potential, in return I don't want to deal with raids for now, does such a location exist?

It has no taxes, no hostile raids, multiple friendly caravans, all crop types can grow in the ground (some at reduced yields), the weather waters your crops for you, it has stone, copper, and iron, and the only hostile wandering squads are animals that ignore you if you have walls up. As well as it's not far from civilization for trading.

The catch is that you need to research walls first if you're too weak to fight the animals. Grab a house in a town and do a little research first, and once your walls are up the base would be safe.

For other safe bases, the mountains north of Blister Hill and around Rebirth are reasonably safe. Only having HN's Prayer Day to deal with. Though getting good terrain and resources nodes may be tricky.

There is also the NE corner of the Burning Forest, it lacks any base raids. Though it still gets Dust Bandit taxes, and the rain 50% of the time is acid and will burn you alive without protection. Not to mention the wildlife is a ton of Blood Spiders.

The far tip of the Iron Trail way in the NW is also completely safe from raids. But it's also so far separated from civilization that it is incredibly inconvenient to do trade runs.

Buying a building in a town should give you enough security to learn how base building works.

The Hub should have destroyed buildings that you can buy and repair. I recommend buying a Storm House because it is big enough to fit in a large research bench or any of the crafting tables. It should give you an idea on how that part of base building works.

There is also the Deadlands but the place is pretty much dead. Nothing grows in it, there is no wind, there is no water, just nodes that you can mine but there are no raids and if there were they would die in acid before they get to you.

A settlement there could work but you would mostly need to buy your essentials there and also cannot recommend characters that does not have resistance against acid.

Building a base isn't a starterthing to do.
You will get raided and either driven off, killed or enslaved.
With some knowledge and stuff that is argueably exploiting, you can get away with it.

Its far safer to buy a house in a town and just build the lesser stuff there.

Fairly sure plenty of raids have the range for the deadlands.
Acid rain alone takes quiet a lot of time to kill one.

This is just from my experience. I've never had my base raided there apart from the faction revenge raids and acid is never really a problem unless if you are building a base there from the start with a race that cannot handle acid or lack the clothing that gives acid resistance.

I also only used that base as a sort of factory and never really treated it like a base so maybe that's why I never got raided(?).

I wonder which building or event makes the game recognize an area as player base and start sending raid parties.

Nearly all not camp buildings.
If you put it down and get a marker on the map, its a base.

not feasible without defenders , you could get mods that allow you to build outpost that are not technically bases

Consider Buying a big house in town, the only thing you'll miss out on is self sustained resource gathering.
But you'll get to do research as well as manufacturing , provided you can buy the resources.

Anything other than campfire bedroll or lights

A storage create will mark the area as a base I believe. You can tell by looking at the map , once there's an "outpost" icon then it means it's already triggered.

There is only one safe place: Okran's Pride. But you MUST attain the prayer day, meaning you should have at least one human character to join the prayer. They do not come looking inside your base tho, so non humans can stay there.

If you dont mind a lame solution, you can just wait around the corner when the raid happens lol, most dont even steal sanything, only specific ones steal food, other than that you are fine

Some of the raids just do not end, ever, unless you make them (fight)

Okran's pride has black dragon ninja raids

I have never had a raid that didnt end actually. But you have to be close for the steps of the raid to trigger. If you move away from your base they dont end, get closer and they start and end after a while. Even after having been away for a long time the raid only actually starts when you get close most of the time, the "OI CHUMPS" and stuff

Ally the Holy Nation and you do not need to worry about those. Although I have built a many base there and I have never seen those ninjas even not allied with HN. Maybe a bug? IDK

They're not too common. I've built two bases in Okran's pride and only had two black dragon raids, both of them being the first raid i had to deal with. In both instances i simply ran back to Stack and a group of Paladins eventually crossed paths with them to take care of them. Pretty good income boost too, as their swords can sell for a lot in town.

The rest of the time I've only been accosted by hungry bandits, and only recently some Dust Bandits.
