Good early base location for harassing Holy Nation?
I'm leading a campaign against the Holy Nation and am trying to find a good spot to set up a temporary base. My goal is be close enough to send out small raids against Holy Nation patrols and convoys, but far enough to where we aren't raided by them often. I got a couple newbie recruits I need to start training as well and might try capturing a strong paladin to use for practice. Anyone got any recommendations?

You can try buy property in Stoat.

Kinda far isn't it? I'm currently closer to Shek territory. I was thinking about trying Dreg or close to the Fog Islands

The hostile relations raid from the HN ignores no-go zones, and has a pretty sizeable range, so there really isn't much you can do to get away from it and be close by, short of living in an NPC town.

Alternatives would be living somewhere that would be hostile to them. Such as living int he Fog Islands, or in the Deadlands or Iron Valleys. Raids would have a hard time getting to you then.

Or you could ally with a faction hostile to them (Shek, Flotsam, or UC), and set up near their territory, virtually guaranteeing they send reinforcements when you get raided, and they make it on time.

I don't know if it's easy, but what I did was set up a base north of Stack and Blister Hill in the middle of that triangle of holy farms in the river valley. Then I put like 6 guys on turrets and shot the patrols while they waded through the river towards the doorway. The ground fertility rate is so ridiculous that you can basically have one guy doing all the farming by themselves.

Shem is pretty much the perfect spot for it. They do send raids anyway, but there won't be prayer days or inquisition inspections.

Well, really everyone that has been to Shem or settled there can agree it is sort of paradise for any base builder. Nice scenic oasis, good resources, fertility, water, some beak things for food in case the farm isn't going well, neatly situated between the Swamps and Flats Lagoon, Black Desert City is also pretty nearby. Got a decent smugglers bar, friendly nomads for neighbors, also ideal for purchasing animals. It's simply THE place to live.

Hell I get the idea LoFi intentionally created Shem as that one perfect spot for a good base.

Skinner's Roam is great imo. But you will get raids there.
Possible early game solution is to permanently hire base protectors which you can easily earn back the price off by slaying the bull herds there which they help with. Which give insane amounts of animal skin and meat for food.
And the great thing about the location is that you can begin pestering the Holy Nation at their mining camps there, which are the easiest to beat, and then move upwards towards their territory and towns when you get stronger.

Alternatively termporarily moving away from your base when a raid comes also works, but with the ninja raids you'll have to either take youd food with you or store it in non-food containers so thoe ninja's wont steal it.
The place also has large groups of starving bandits tho, but hey can be used as great toughness raisers if you are a little careful because they use blunt sticks as weapons which wont make you bleed out as often

It was a great choice to put one of the best looking and highly habitable biome at the middle of the map

One of the problems with fighting Holy Nation is they will hang around after fighting to heal all the other Holy Nation goobers you just took down. It's really annoying. Don't try to fight Holy Nation until you can deal with this, because their weapons are very good against armor and they will constantly maim and dismember your party.

the plain right in front of blister hill. Perfect spot for a siege camp.
