Good Performance mods for a new comer?
I heard that's best to play vanilla for a first run but it's not going to stop me from adding some performance mods at the very least. Any suggestions?

Yeah, there's a small collection here that I recommend to everyone

Particle System Override [www.nexusmods.com]

Kenshi Performance Fix [www.nexusmods.com]

Nvidia Optimization (if you have an nvidia GPU) [www.nexusmods.com]

Less foliage and rocks [www.nexusmods.com]

Yeah, you should probably play vanilla for a little while first. Just a few hours to learn the basics, but after that you can start modding to change things you dislike and know you can't reasonably fix without modding.

For example, I made myself a simple mod (with the modding software included with the game) that increases exp gained and bed healing speed because those two things take up a lot of time and can get really boring after you've been playing for over 50 hours. I also made a few public mods if you'd like to check them out once you've played a bit and you can understand what they actually do

You'll need this to have a framerate above 4 per second unless you have 8 gigs of video RAM.
All it does is remove the game-crashing filter that covers the whole screen all the time.

^This is an absolute must. There are other variants of it that reduce clutter to half or zero, yet I find that reducing low-poly shrubbery to 1/4 keeps that Veetnam authenticity without completely obscuring all characters and terrain (and crashing the game when entering a new biome). Seriously, why do bad game programmers go out of their way to add their uncut grass to the map?

If you are stone deaf, ignore this one. If you are even remotely normal of hearing or incredibly sensitive like myself, this mod is the most important. All the time. Especially important to note that the ear-piercing buzzing never goes away once a corpse appears and only grows louder as the sound effect generates a new playtrack of it every single time anything ever dies.

im not sure if it's just me but I thought the natural vanilla might run faster in swamp than textures project but I didn't test it just 2 different playthroughs - i'm not sure overall

Well, might help to know your system specs?

If you have a beefy GPU with VRAM no need for the 'compressed textures' mod... And 'Less Ground Clutter' really only needed for systems towards the potato end of the scale, just saying and not being hardware snob. Beware of advice given if system context not provided, right?
