Depends. Skelly bois have a lot of advantages over the meatbags of kenshi but you require more expensive repair kits to patch yourself up and special beds to fully repair. Also you lose some armor slots. Don't even think about going to HN settlements with Skellies in tow either unless you are prepared for a fight.

For base turret defense and item production skellies are flatly better.

Skeletons do have more HP, don't need food, and their MAs are 100% protected from limb damage fighting bare-handed (+more damage as they're fists of steel after all). Also they have a lot of environmental protection fron burning, acid and poisonous gas (Killing clouds in Black desert area and Ashlands)
BUT they have some serious problems.
HN consider skeletons a core threat to themselves = one third of the map is a high danger zone cause HN is a large empire and their pallies are strong.
Skeletons have their HP degraded with every hit they recieve and their repair kits cost hell ton of money to maintain. Until the late tech is unlocked you'll have to rely on a friendly town with a supply of repair beds and kits.

so what im trying to do is have an explorer/ camper/ hunter group. would skellies be better or worse

There is no 'better' or 'worse', just another option.

Pros: don't eat, environmental immunity, martial arts bonus
Cons: attacked on sight by zealots, needs repair beds/kits, less armor means more limb loss

Just so you know.
Humans: Versatile medium for everything there is.
Shek: Higher HP, More hunger and bleeding rate.
Hive: VERY fast but extremely fragile to limb loss (very low bleeding rate and very low food consumption)
Skeleton: Yada-yada we talked about that in several messages above this one :D
Animals: Aging to get bonus stats, no stagger but can't use equipment and can't talk to people (obviously), can't block or dodge. Various animals have different max speed so there are Beak things for example that are "gotta-go-fast" type.

They are really good for combat so definitely get a couple/few and try them out.

I once tried an all skeleton play through and gave up pretty quickly as it was too easy and got boring.

Sadly Peeler doesn't work this way... A shame truly. But for that we have an actual Skeleton mod xD (Human, Shek and Hive)

I bet skeletons MA's are easymode... I need to give that a try lol. Just got Burn the other day and in the process of training him. Would be nice to have a nice mix up of different fighters in my group.

no one mentioned that skeletons cant be eaten by cannibals, beak things, spiders, etc
XenoxXx Jul 4, 2023 @ 6:45pm
You will need to mix every race to play this game, skeleton heal rate is highest in this game cos they are robot, Once repair they can fight again. Skeleton bed you can research, skeleton repair kit is pretty easy to get in mid late game science lab and workshop have plenty of them, i selling skeleton repair kit in mid late game. You can loot store too if you had join faction and started war.

Agnu have 50strength, i don't see a reason for not recruit agnu and that place need skeleton the rest will get sun burn.

Both tinfist and mad catlon are skeleton, they are the strongest boss and npc in this game. Martial art is op in this game cos they ignore armor and once your martial 40-50 there is when you realize how strong ma is.

You can probably one shot knockout some of the boss when your martial art reach 70 if you hit the right spot.

For squad more than 20peoples you need skeleton and hive soldier drone as they don't need that much food.

I've always felt the game is easier when I'm playing a Skeleton. They have multiple strong advantages (no food, cant get eaten by wildlife/cannibals, high health, rarely bleed to death even at low toughness, immune to weather effects...)

Repair kits are a little expensive, but they're not prohibitively expensive. If you know the basics of playing, it shouldn't be an issue to find the money, especially since you're an OP skeleton chad. The hardest part of the game is when you start and don't have one in your inventory yet, but you can buy some of the cheap hive repair kits to start with.

You don't need to visit the skeleton repair beds constantly, just whenever you notice your max health is starting to be problematic (under 100 would make you weaker than a human, above that is still completely fine). Humans take forever to get back up and fully heal after a fight, but skeletons can do that very fast, and I think that's a great trade-off for the repair system.

The only real downsides I can think of are the fact that you can't equip helmets (some of them give useful stats like Perception, if you wanted to play a ranged character), and the fact that the Holy Nation hates you, but those aren't huge problems
XenoxXx Jul 4, 2023 @ 10:58pm
Helmet and boot is to balance the game if skeleton can eqiup helmet and boot will make them op, skeleton is easier to up their toughness than other race cos they basically cannot die, even in dying state once repair they will able to fight again.

i wouldn't make my entire party skeletons due to the fact that they're expensive to repair and that and end up getting permanent damage that can only be fixed at a repair bed that require alot of research or rent a repair bed which can cost like up to 3000 cats but it is nice to have a few of them that are trained at turrets or manufacturing so so they can protect your base indefinitely without having to stop for a break to go get food. But they also are probably cheaper to maintain over a long run since you don't have to buy food
