merging outpost+hive village
Has anyone tried it? The hive folk aren't as picky about letting you build near them as most other factions. I'm considering building an outpost next to a village and encircling both in a big wall. I have nothing near one currently, so it's not something I'll be able to do short term, but I'm curious if anyone's pursued something like this, and how well it worked out.

Just be careful of the Hiver workers taking over your machines and farms, its been reported that they will randomly wonder over to them and start working them.

They just gotta keep busy - busy, busy busy.

I set up a campfire and several cots there when I needed a safe-ish place to rest up. As long as I don't do anything globally considered a crime there (like free random slaves), they're content to meander around. They also zerg the ♥♥♥♥ out of anything that gets hostile with them.

Its not too hard to just knock them out with stealth and go dump them back into their area though from what I have heard. Trains stealth up pretty well as an added bonus when you need to 'aquire' things but lack money :D

Funny thing with your title. I'm slowly assimilating one of the hives. I got really annoyed with not being able to recruit more than a couple people playing as the hive (+ holy sword) atm.

Waited 10+ days to recruit new people in mongrel and the Hub. Nobody new appears, so I got fed up and imported my squad and buildings into a new game.

I had a campfire built really near one of the hive community buildings and on reload somehow I've taken ownership of one of them hive buildings. Sorta cool for roleplaying purposes but I think that particular hive location is now short a lot of members.

A good way to get more Hivers might be to do what someone else was doing, freeing slaves. Stealthly take out some, drop them off near Holy Nation people, rescue them. Just an idea.

Thanks for the tip didn't know they could possibly join you when you free them. Any idea where slavemongers bring their slaves to? They've been slowly kidnapping unconscious hive soldiers. This hive village I'm in barely has any soldier left. I tried following them once but my leg was broken and they despawned by the time my faster guy reached Mr. Broken leg.

Sadly I have not come acrost any camps of theirs, I do not know if they are just randomly spawned patrols or have a base camp they function from, sorry.

The slavers take their prisoners to the Holy Mines and sell the to the Overseer there.

Oho, thanks for this tibit of info. This would explain how I found a Holy Mines that had zero slaves suddenly having two or three a few in-game days later.

Time to go hunt down this giant honeypot of Hiver slaves somewhere...

If you havnt found all the Holy Mines, a nice person has put up a map with all known locations already. Just in case you didnt know by now :)

If you build too close to a NPC settlement when you import after an update it can cause ownership of the buildings nearby to change to you.

It might sound cool at the time, but it could cause issues such as shops no longer being there and such.

You can also get yourself into trouble settling other faction territory. For exmaple Holy Nation patrols will show up in your settlement and ask you what you are doing. Then you get dailogue choices which can result in them turning hostile. Now if you are already a hostile faction of a non-human race, then I think they just skip the dialogue and go straight to attacking you.

Theoretically, you can stealth-KO and then abscond with the slave you just basically enslaved. That'll give you a chance to drag them out of harms way before you clink the cuffs.

I finally made the trek with 4 hive soldiers in tow towards a Holy mine. They only aggroed me, leaving those hive soldiers free to idle inside their walls -_-'.

The only time I can manage to get them to enslave the hivers is if I knock them out along with myself. Then my game promptly crashes ;p. I'll have to delay this plan of mine until they fix the jailing/enslaving crash bug.

Any other bright suggestions for recruiting hivers? (And does anybody else crash on getting enslaved/jailed?)
