Shop counter, how do they work ?
I'm in the city Mongrel, I bought a building, made it public and open the door. I crafted 10 basic first aid and put them in my shop counter.

It's been weeks and nobody want to buy my products.

Then, I tried some mod like "NPC enjoys more shopping", "Enhanced Shopping Economy". Still not selling a single product.

Why doesn't it work ? :(

Not sure.. I have 4 shop counters in my bar with all manner of crap for sale, bit of everything. Wandering traders and tech hunters seem to buy a random bit of meat or grog or a building material or two but in the the end it's just all for show. The money you make from that is spare change. It's just for aesthetics.

Open to public?
NPC's buying requires a shopping list, if a item is not on it, they will not buy it.

Well I could steal everything so money is not a problem, I just wanted to try to own a shop for fun. :)

Maybe the solution to attract customers is to sell differents types of products like you do ?

Yes my building is open to public and the door is also unlocked and open.

I see, thanks, I have others questions please :
is there a way to know which items are on their shopping list ? Does their list change often or does it always stay the same ?
I have a trading post that sells cactus rum in the Desert. I keep it stocked with only cactus rum and i make about 3k per week from it.

People seem to really like cactus Rum.

Basic first aid kits are something most NPCs should buy by default, even without mods. Same for foods and some alcohols. But also remember that not everyone in the world has much money, and they do shop elsewhere, too. NPCs get a daily wage, but eventually they'll end up with a full inventory and can't buy more (they'll say 'can't fit that item in' or similar).

Also, if you've installed the improved shopping mod, did you import afterwards? Importing resets NPC inventory so they can buy more stuff.

Yes I did import everytime I add a new mod and the author said to do it. I also import when removing a mod.

Also, good new : as the 2 mods didn't worked, I removed them and import... and now an NPC decided to buy an item lol ! Thanks everyone, sorry to have made a thread about it. I don't know how it is solved, but it is, shop counter work. :)

Maybe it was the shopping list that changed after an import.

mongrel is a poor city from my experience, and not nearly enough caravans/patrols make it there for it to be viable for a counter (even w/ mods). try a UC city and i bet you'll start seeing a better turn over w/ the mods you have. as someone else mentioned basic medkits are basic purchase items even w/o mods so it's odd that even over time no one is buying anything

The best places are down south (assuming you're using the better shopping mod). Catun is fantastic as the noble idiot there will happily buy 4k+ value blades.

The Waystation between Clownsteady and Drifter's Last is also amazing as there's a steady stream of slave trader patrols coming through that place. Buy the house, build a basic weapon smith, a medical bench, and a campfire. Dump all loot from the rebel farmers and others (weapons, food, medkits) plus whatever you make into the shop counter and you'll be getting 5k-10k per visit, no problem.

You'll also get occasional wandering assassins who can buy more expensive weapons (like the noble, they can buy stuff for a good 4-5k cats). I did a play-through like this, was surprisingly fun :)

edit: also, apparently there's one particular NPC type that will even buy the medical supplies item, which is normally something you can only sell directly. Never worked out who was buying them, but someone was.

Oh, and don't bother putting splint kits in, NPCs don't buy 'em.

it might be different in mine as i have multiple mods and sliders adjusted to maximize populace, but the most fruitful group for counter sales is always tech hunter parties (by thousands of cats easy). which is why i suggested UC (and specifically northern tho i didn't specify) as they have large populaces as well as pretty frequent tech hunter parties (especially stoat).

4-5k really isn't much as a one off sale and imo shouldn't be a main focus for counter sales because while someone like a noble might buy that 4k weapon/armor, they won't buy anything of that worth for many days and no one other than a select few (even w/ mods can even afford that). i usually hard sell anything over 2k to shops and keep the money moving via counter regularly through basic needs like food and health supplies. honestly just selling advanced foods exclusively is more lucrative than any other high cat item. i make roughly 7-10k a day just selling meatwraps. throw a big ticket item in here and there as needed and you can make 20k a day passively without actually relying on the big sales
