thats where you get the best training.
When I do that either the enemies are too weak and I get no stats from killing them or the enemies are too strong and I get my senses knocked out.
NPCs in fact also get training, so after an hour or so of nonstop sparring (have groups of 2-5 spar, cycle through multiple groups for efficiency) the skeleton is now at 80s stats. I've had to go out and capture a new skeleton bc the old one absolutely wrecks the new recruits... not allowing them to train attack but defence.
1. Give them high level samurai armor and a rusted junk grade weapon (katana is what I use). You want fights to last longer, and minimize limb losses.
2. Toss skeleton in repair bed after it gets KO. Keep group in until only 1-2 people are left standing. Throw skeleton in cage when you are done. I personally did this in a storm house. Place a bed in front of door so bodyguards/teammates dont join in fight. You do not need to complete the bed in order to obstruct the door.
3. Have a medic on passive standing in room to heal downed squaddies.
go after the stronger ones. that's how the game is designed
you learn by getting beaten up and losing and surviving.. it's the fastest way to level up.
Don't sent ALL your people at the same time. Always keep someone who can at least bandage-up the wounded once the fight is over and that can preferably carry them to safety as well.
Conversely, I find combat training slow as well, simply because people have to recover from wounds before having another round.
