Automatically put ore into bag?
I recently started playing and I haven't figured out the job system yet. Is there a way to tell someone to automatically put the ore out of a ressource node into the bag and continue mining instead of stopping once the output is full?

Not the bag, but to a specialized storage container nearby, yes. "Storage: Ore" and "Storage: Copper."

If there's one of those within range (like in a nearby town,) and they have the mining job set as a permanent job, they'll automatically empty the mining node when it's full and go deposit the ore in storage, and then go back to mining.

I did some reading up on that but I was really hoping that they would fill their inventory to either their full capacity or their encumberence limit. Isn't it horribly inefficent to haul 5 ore every time instead of the possible 20 or more? They also don't even seem to be using their backpacks?

Hauling is terribly inefficient

That makes perfect sense from a real world perspective.
In a game sense, though, the advantage is that all that running around raises their Athletics skill/runspeed.

And they use the backpack, but they seem to try their regular inventory first. If there's not enough room in that, they put it in the backpack.

Edit: HaTsUnE_NeKo's answer in the other thread is better than mine.

I really hope someone makes a mod to fill the inventory. Tired of seeing this Hatsune guy defend this inefficient ♥♥♥♥ and lazy coding. In what game does a person run back to storage after mining 1/8th of their inventory.
maybe because i been modding the game for many years. not to mention knowing what most of the stuff that can be modded or not modded.
and this is one of those things that can not be modded.

This discussion is interesting as I wanted the same thing. Perhaps for the same reasons, perhaps not. My issue was folks keep running back after every 5 ores. I was able to solve the issue for me. It does not fill bags as per this discussion; but, it does solve all the running. There is a mod called Expanded Storage - Mines which allows the mine to hold 100 items instead of only 5 or in the case of stone 10. This resolved the issue for which I wanted the bags to fill. I still have to drop by once a day and load up someone to haul away; but, way better then before.
