2) Getting in battle trains you, do not fear going down, leave one character behind to first aid everyone after a battle.
3) Build your faction and your character skills in the safety of a building inside a town, do not build a base too soon. Base == constant raids.
4) The game is as fun as your imagination allows, use mods to tinker the game closer to your play style. Although play first few hours without, so you can see what 'needs fixing' for you.
5) the game has some pathing issues. Do not be afraid of using the shift + F12 to rebuild navmesh, sometimes you might need to move an entire building a bit further so the hill's collision hull does not block the stairs. A warning tho, when I learned what that tool can do, that killed the game for me and turned me into a modder XD
6) in the speed control there is a red stick figure following a black stick figure, it means all selected characters move with the same speed together.
7) every animal can kill you. In this game humans are the least powerfull.
Check around outside cities for mining nodes for easy money early on. If you see a group of bandits get their attention and drag them back to the town gates so the guards take care of them. Gang up on them to level some of your combat skills.
If you get mauled and lose a limb, don't worry. There are robot limbs.
You can also find some free companions in some towns/bars that are helpful if you're starting solo.
I dare you to fight roaming goats.
1) Your first game should be the most basic start - 1 character , low starting money
2) Encumber yourself and run around to gain strength and athletics - being fast and strong makes starting easier.
3) You mine and sell Copper - loot everything and sell it - then Hire your first companion from a Bar
4) You can lure enemies to cities - use the guards , then loot what you want.
5) Don't get downed around fogmen - while not in the presence of Guards , fogmen will carry you away and eat you.
game is quite tough and unforgiving for players going in blind and I think that is the kind of experience Kenshi likes to give.
Then after failure and learning from it you get that experience in your memory banks aka your "Brainsssssssss....".
Id recommend Wanderer or Rock bottom because suffering from hell to know heaven is the best experience in my opinion. The KENSHI Experience mind you! :D
I fell in love with the game for how challenging it is and that you can find different approach to some situations that can bring a smile on your face or on the inside.
I've been enslaved, eaten alive, and became ritual food to fogmen and caused civil war or completely destroyed the civilization to the last.
Give it a try and I recommend starting without mods for that replayability once you do decide its the right time to try mods once you had your fun with the current playground.
1) Run!
2) Run faster!
3) See 1) and 2)...
don't be afraid to lose a fight, its how you get stronger. but also try and avoid fights with people who have blades. as they can kill you when you go down. least until your stronger.
learn to run at the very start. if you can run fast enough, you can escape bad situations.
playing the game at fastest speed can and often will kill you if your not careful.
you can see over mountain's and hills, the NPC can not. use that to your advantage.
Crossbows and thieving are OP. some of the best exploits in the game due to how the Dev wanted them. and the Dev knows about it but wont change them.
nothing outruns gutters. unless you have masterwork speed legs.
Mercs a new character's best friend, 2k per day to hire and a single fight with dust bandits gives more than that in loot, and they will protect you as you waddle slowly to the nearest town to sell it.

Thats it.
This song describes kenshi perfectly.
Figure you have - they're kinda hard to miss.
If you think otherwise, you might like to start checking the factions of the various creatures you meet. ;) There's also a potential squad member scripty-talky interaction while exploring that may explain the situation to you, if you're lucky.
