Kenshi
Life as a Slave
Well.. the title says it all and im certain at least a few times this topic has been talked about but lets do it again! So what do you gain from being a salve? Clearly stealth training is easy as a heck I got 60+ in ONE NIGHT! Then theirs the beatings that gain you Toughness, some Dodge and Martial Arts skill. Then theirs Lockpicking perhaps some Thievery if your up for the task of trying to steal food. The lastly from what I know is Athletics.. besdies that im out of ideas on what the perks of being a Slave is.

You can also train your str keeping a lot of shackles on you and the assasination skill with the slaves or slavers.

Really isnt any. Sure you can gain some skills living the life but other than RP it is nothing you cannot get done without being a slave

I forgot Farming and Labouring Woopsie!

It is admittedly easier to train said skills as a slave though. As there is no risk of dying, since they patch you up and feed you.

Personally I feel like an unruly slave should simply get executed. You get caught out of your cage a lot? You die.

*Small risk of dying. They could cut you in half by accident, or forget the employee health plan entirely, but yes, being a slave (particularly in Rebirth) is one of the best ways to start your game. With a health insurance plan like that, who wouldn't want to be a slave? You don't need to worry about food until you try to leave, and you should have rudimentary toughness, martial arts, strength, laboring, lockpicking and stealth stats upon retirement.
You can also get maybe even 10 recruits in your severance package.

The slave farm in Heng is the closest thing to Club Med in the Kenshi world. It's the ultimate slave experience.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned assassination yet. Its a great skill to work on as a slave, the worst that could happen if you fail a practice KO is you get another beating... which you would have gotten anyways.

Start on fellow slaves (they're starving to death so need more naps in the field) then move up to the slavers. After a while you'll have the run of the place. Both slaves and slavers are fairly easy to knock out so once you hit 20 skill or so you can ninja your way to any part of the camp.

Please note however that I'm talking about UC slave camps. Paladins are quite a bit harder to knock out than a slaver, but it can still be done, it'll just take a bit more training on your fellow slaves to get to the point where you can sneak up to and knock out anyone in the camp at will.

No need to be surprised, Hidalgo mentioned it in the very first reply ;)

But everyone is right, it can be a fun way to play and earn some skills instead of setting up a training area in a town or using their dummies and lets you play (or roleplay) in a bit different way.

Could one by one K.O and steal all the clubs/blades/Crossbows they got and either arm the slaves or just see whom is better at hand to hand. either way I geuss being a slave is a safer way to try out how Assassination works.

Damn, you're right! No clue how I missed that, but I did.

Thats what I get for skimming posts while eating I guess. :berserk:

Only downside I found was healing is very slow while hungry, so timewise it is slower to improve as a slave than other methods where you can find food and a bed to rest in.

Another upside is other slaves you free (while getting lockpicking practice) are reasonably likely to want to join your team.

That is if you run out far enough so they then wish to join up, and for Hivers well... at times corpses are made and well Skimmers dogs tend to come and check them out means free hiver/Scorchlander food. And if your a Skele you'll just be beaten to death with out being repaired basicly.

Thievery gain is huge if you rob sleeping guards, put their stuff into slaver chest and then repeatedly steal it from there. you get cought and nothing happens, they dont even beat you, they just put you to your cage.

Robbed Slavers can be equipped with slave clothing and when found unconsious by their former slaver friends they are promptly enslaved!

Will you perform work activities at any slave location other than Rebirth? This post made me curious so I wandered around getting myself enslaved at various places in UC territory only to be stuck idle in a cage for days until I got bored and left.

My Rebirth experience was mostly just running around following the Sentinels. It is still a better place to train lockpicking and find better quality recruits. UC slaves are under closer supervision and have no starting stats. In Rebirth there are vast numbers of Shek, a couple Scorchlanders and even a few Greenlander slaves with a grab bag of stats.
