The locations that can generate them are: The Tech lab in the northwest on the peninsula, the Tech lab just to the west of Arach, Narko's Trap, and World's End.
Well fortunately I'm still in Arach's vicinity so I'll go check that one out. Thanks.
There's always 3 AI cores that you can buy from the black desert robot "junk" trader. Also there's always one AI core at the university in the World's end that you can steal.
On a semi-related note: Are hydroponics actually better than regular farms in some way or are they just a way to farm in places with low/no fertility? I don't want to waste a core on researching them if it's redundant.
Central Deadlands, East/Northeast of Black Desert City there is the Scrapyard. 2nd floor vendor sells AI cores and other high end items.
Beware acid rain and 40-50+ skill enemies.
A bit quicker, I think normal farms grow at 4%/hour and hydroponic are 5%/hour. Plant for plant I think hydroponic might also harvest a little quicker.
Growing crops in dirt if you can is much easier, doesn't have to be in a building and doesn't use power.
In all honesty I could not even tell you.
Out of all the years I have played I think I have actually only built the hydroponics maybe 2-3 times. Even then I do not think I actually bothered using them.
This is mostly due to the fact that it is so far up the tech tree that by the time I even get it it is obsolete in my opinion because I have normal farms that buried me in food.
I have wanted to build them in town a few times but then once I realize that because I have no access to water it is pointless.
This is another one of those things where I would love to see more regional goods and regional values. I mena UC has all the nobles and such, but yet one of the big things about nobles is being able to buy goods from faraway lands.
For example using hydroponics to grow your own out of region produce for a good profit.
That would be cool, yeah. Corner the market on rum because you can produce it closer than the Swampers can, and thus become the new primary supplier for the UC if your operations are big enough.
Sounds good, but the problem is that you're still dependent on having soil that has water, which usually means you'll be able to grow regular farms on that same soil, and when it comes down to it, actual farms are more efficient than hydroponics.
So I'd say unless you're in an area where you have water but no terrain for crops at all, then making hydroponics are not worth much in comparison, unless you really want to have specific food on hand.
However, if one day we get to have a high end buildable station that generates water, then hydroponics will become great assets, as they'd allow you to setup bases in desolate areas. I don't think we'll ever get this though, there might be a glimpse of hope though, the rain collector, although ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless, could be the first step toward some late game tech that needs rain collector as a prerequisite and a bunch of AI cores.
Now see this is a very valid point, mostly. If you want to buidl a base on a hilly sloping area then you can not build farms, so it makes sense.
The problem why it aint fully valid is like I said before the research is so far up that tree that most likely you already have a base somewhere that suits your needs.
Now factor in the part that is nothing to force you to go build elsewhere. Not like you run out of resources, the locals ran you off, natural disaster or whatever. You are also so far up that tech tree you do not even need to go build a new base to go hunt cores.
Hydroponics should have been lower on the tech tree and had different levels for the buildings. Each level of building having a better yeild and lower power requirement.
Why someone has not modded in different levels of hydroponics I dont know. Maybe it never occured to them?
You sure that aint a mod? In vanilla was pretty sure only the leather armors had the high acid resistance.
