Playing alone?
How much content of the game is enjoyable with just 1 character? Is playing with more that 1 character a must? I want to buy this game but managing so many characters seems hard, tell me what you think about it

Playing with only one character is how the game was intended... then again the game was intended for you to play with however many characters you want. Some people choose to populate a whole town, some just want a couple to watch each other's back. Some might like to go it alone. Whatever seems most fun for you is what you should choose. If you don't know what would seem the most fun, you can check out numerous playthroughs on YouTube or just start and see what happens. You might fall in love with an NPC and try to figure out a way to bring them into your group or to protect them against all incursions (and there will be incursions). Let your mind and heart guide you, is what I'm saying. Good luck!
as i tend to play solo for most my game plays.
it is not recommended for beginning players.
best to start out with 5 nobodies then once you get the hang of the game and get used to dying, you will be more able to handle a solo playthrough.

Kenshi is first a squad based combat game, so it is more geared around having multiple party member's, but you are not required to have them.

If you do start as solo.
sneak.
sneak is your friend.
don't run the game at 3x speed, this will get you killed.
become a scavenger. follow after battles are done and pick clean the fallen, except those whom territory you are in, you cant sell item's back to the same faction, they are marked as stolen.
You see someone with fancy colored clothes and a crossbow, Run!!!
Never be afraid to run away. try and pick your battles. pick on those who recently went down and are badly damaged.
Crossbow is your friend when solo. shoot and scoot, repeat until they are badly hurt. always make sure you can run fast. so you need to train that first.
run away if you look to be overwhelmed.

Never pet the goats

When you just started, you will most likely be very poor , so you will play as one character. It can stay that way for as long as you like. The most units you are allowed is 30(including animals).

And welcome! Great things await!
Keep an eye on who is fighting who;

Bandits vs city guards? Attacking the bandits is usually going to be a 1v1 and you can flee deeper into the city if you need to as the guards will deal with anything (to a degree) chasing you. Easy xp and loot, sometimes you can grab a downed bandit and hand them in for a reward.

City guards vs Slavemongers/Manhunters? Ooh this is a fun one, can become a "Loyalty Cascade" and can give some better loot and xp if careful, any downed slavemonger who attacked a guard will have a 500+ bounty on their head. Fun to sit back and watch.

Guards vs wildlife? Dinner. And/or skins, teeth, claws etc. Do not pet wildthings unless you are ready for pain. It is possible to start a war between the Wild Bulls and the Holy Nation by aggroing a herd and running to the guards who will attack the Bulls.

Avoid Fogmen/Cannibals/Beak Things.

Playing as a solo character can be frustrating at the start, the lack of toughness means if you go down you will probably stay down, later on they are usually stronger as you are only spending money on one person and they get all the xp. Aside from (full) base building just about everything is available to a solo character and some things are much easier such as getting through Venge or the Fog Islands.

You see the mouse icon next to their name? That means they already own the game.

I say an 2-4 group is best, you avoid the main issue being solo in that you can bleed out at an city gate. Have one dedicated medic, who is ranged or sneak. Later on you want two so you can swap.

When I first started Kenshi I did start solo. Took me about 5 minutes to get my arm chopped off... Started again with Dog. Another 5 minutes and by Dog was goner.
Third time the charm I started with Dog and we were without squad mates for over 100 days. At that point I started my village.
What helped a lot was sneaking behind group of bandits/cannibals to level up sneak fast. And then started to "assassinate" them. In just about an hour real time I was invisible for them even during the day and was able to "oneshot" everyone. So I took out whole gangs took their weapon and let them fight me when they woke up. Without weapons they were almost useless and by char and doggo leveled up nicely.

Welcome to the Pain Simulator, i mean Kenshi :beeped:

I Started solo and even managed to survive, but a outpost/base is nearly impossible to run solo - But otherwise there is in that sense no limit to Solo Play, if you know how to cheese the game it actualy gets quite easy :cactusrum:

I am actually running two saves. In one of them I am building up an army, and in the other one I am running solo. I have been enjoying both.

You really only need multiple people if you plan to do base building.

Having a 2nd guy who can rescue you is safer when experimenting with combat, especially early on before you've learned your limits, but not really nessecary.
