It has acid rain. Everything else is just like the swamp

strange that i ran across the whole area and the only dangerous thing i saw was a spider in a lab
Sometimes it be like that. Nothing for days and days and then a 8 way brawl in Heng involving the cops, manhunters, traders guild, nomads, western hive, outlaw farmers, sand ninjas and skimmers.

And then a couple of Beak Things wander in to pick off the survivors.

There's far far more dangerous areas. The acid rain is a problem, but that's a problem in a lot of areas. The spider spawn rate is very high but there's other areas with higher spawn rates of even more dangerous stuff. Spiders do tend to hit far far harder than otherwise comparable enemies but they have very little health as well, making them easily taken on with polearms even using very weak characters. Their attack range is absurdly high, likely due to an oversight, which is why many people recommend using a mod to reduce it... Or to make it the same as ranged weapons if you want a lulzier playthrough.

The problem is there's very very little reason to go there. Combined with the high spawn rates of spiders and no spawns of anything that could help you out or even any enemy worth looting, it's very much an area you want to avoid except to check out the one lab there. Even if the risk is managable, there's simply too little there to be worth the bother. At least The Unwanted Zone and Gut spawn things worth looting even if both are far more dangerous.

Blood spider attack range at one time was 70, but was reduced to 17 some time ago. The mod makes it 27 so now the mod makes the spiders tougher than vanilla. (numbers may not be exactly right but they are close)

Are you sure you are actually in the forest? When you are on the edge of two zones sometimes weather, spawns, and town events can get real buggy.

I think it's supposed to be constant acid rain but I've never been there for more than a day so IDK, maybe it stops.

Best guess is you're in the off season. The way the weather in Kenshi works is it cycles between all local "seasons" over the course of 100 days. The Burning Forest has two seasons, which are each 50 days or so. One bone dry with not a drop of rain, and one that rains the entire season without stop (only half of which is acid rain).
