Character almost died while mining

Is this a new feature? My character was mining, all of sudden took serioously critical damage, and nearly died. i was like, wtf?

also if you put a camp bed down, your unconcious characters will continue to mine if they are on it. lol

That happened to me but it turned out I was near a turret being manned my a npc from a faction that was hostile. Were you by any chance near somewhere where there would have been an enemy manning a turret?

i think i was a bit too far away for that. does squinn have turrets? i can't remember.

I think all major towns have turrets, and I've been randomly attacked by Squin residents multiple times. It's possible a random Squin resident attack happened and the resident was in or near enough to get in a turret.
