Swamp loading times are suddenly WAAAAAY worse.
So I've always avoided the swamps because of the horrible load spikes I and alot of other people experience there, but I have the feeling it's been getting worse for no reason. I havent installed any new mods or anything, but I literally have to wait MNUTES for the loaing screen to unpause and the game to continue, then itll run for a couple seconds before it loads again, it makes the swamps literally unplayable.

I have tried foilage mods, texture compression mods and even messing with the games draw distances trying both sides of the spectrum.

I have uninstallöe the foilage and rock reduction mods since they screwed up every vanilla town in game (Rocks mising that were part of the walls, uddenly giant rocks blocking gates, etc.)

I HAVE INSTALLED THE GAME ON MY ssd, I got a new gaming rig and did all the things that devs and moderators and players CLAIM that makes load times more bearable, but it's gotten worse.

I dont expect a solution, its just the game I guess, but I gotta ask: Why was I told to get an ssd and a better pc when that didnt change a thing? What have I done wrong? I've reinstalled the game countless times and verified the files more times than I care to mention here and I am this close tgo just giving up on this game and its constant BS, anyone got any more advice I can try to make it more bearable would be apreciated. thanks!

Ok I will try my best:
1. Had you tried turning on fast zone hopping?
2. Are you playing the experimental version? If so, had you turned off the load distant town?

The swamp is definitely a little funky, I have to sit through 30 to 40 minutes of loading screens every time I go there.

Hey there! I have tried fast zone hopping, unfortunately my pc runs seems to run out if ram when I do so, Haven't tried using the experimental version, tho I doubt it'll help much since it the load times are persistent even in the areas of the swamp with almost no town, thanks for the options tho!

Sorry to hear that, but it's at least some kind of relief to know that my case isn't out of the ordinary :p

I guess we can say our PCs got swamped in loading time.

This is far outside of vanilla game behavior, IMO.

What are your basic system specs? You can get that directly from Steam: Steam->Help-> System Information-> Right-click on it and choose "Copy to Clipboard" and paste that in a thread. THEN, be sure to delete the stuffs we don't need as well as any personal info you don't want to share. Just include your CPU, GPU, OS, Sound, etc. (I think they've actually shortened the specs displayed, there.)

What display resolution are you using?

What display mode are you using? (Try borderless window. It can help.)

Vsync? On or off? Try turning it "Off." Or "On" if it's already off.

Try turning off the Steam Overlay, just in case that's always been causing problems, but you only see the evidence here: Steam-> Library-> Right-click on Kenshi-> Properties-> UNTOGGLE "Enable Steam Overlay" (Sometimes causes resolution mismatch, mouse, vid issues.)

Im surprised no one has yet suggested the shift+cntrl+F11 fix. OP, why dont you list your mods for us. Even if you havent added new mods, old mods get updated and could be whats caused it.

that only fixes pathing issues. not area loading issues.
hence why it has not bene suggested.

Yeah, but not doing it for a long time (or ever), can cause lag and crashes. Anyway my guess is its a mod issue.

Pathing doesnt cause lag.
but it is suggested to do it once a new area is loaded, more so cities only though. to fix pathing issues when the area is loaded.

I have similar issues in the swamp even running smaller parties through it. I just avoid the area. The game just struggles to load the chunks sometimes it seems. Not a problem in other places.

There are mods that reduce foliage and rocks and that should help.

Just curious, but have you tried turning down the water reflection settings? I used to have issues trying to swim out to the Armor King from Blister Hill until I turned it down, and the swamp is, like, 90% water sooo... yeah. Otherwise it could be something mod related like other people have said.
