But using the peeler machine with armour helps.
Another tactic which you can either do entirely on it's own or as a next step, go to fog islands. Either bash a bunch of fogmen up and put the desired character on their sacrifice pole (it acts like a prisoner cage) or send in the guy on his own to get beat up and they will put him on it themselves. They'll start to eat the guy. I think their order of eating goes 'upwards' on the health list, so legs, arms, stomach chest, etc. You can lose maybe 2 limbs before the blood loss becomes a threat. But especially if you already have robot legs from the previous method, they 'should' (i will check soon) just go straight to eating arms.
Just have a decent crew standing by to run in and save him. The fogmen groups are pretty weak, except the fogmen heavies and prince which will be drawn by someone being on the sacrifice pole and come to do the eating.
-If you're trying to get limbs severed through combat, keep in mind that -300 limb health would actually make it harder to lose said limb. This is because while a damaged limb is more likely to be hit than a healthy one, once a limb goes negative, it actually becomes much less likely to be hit. Some people have run into this issue where they will wonder why they can't lose a limb or remove a training prisoner's limb despite it being deep into the negatives because they can't seem to hit that limb anymore. This mechanic is the culprit.
-All weapons have minimum cutting damage added behind the scenes. This means it does not have to be a bladed/cutting weapon to sever limbs. A purely blunt weapon works just as well as a katana.
When you heal a character after a fight it works from the head downwards. So if someone in your party takes a good leg wound you heal them until just before the leg is healed and move away. The leg will pop off eventually (I play with frequent limb loss) and you heal them and give them a robot limb. You have to work your way up the body. You repair robot limbs and heal normal ones as appropriate.
It requires a bit of micro management but as long as you have a pack animal with some limbs its easy to do as you explore and get in fights.
