Backpack you can try Mongrel or World's End they are bound to have backpack sellers. Hive villages don't sell any backpacks. Stack has this sort of randomness when you start or import a game where the shops in Stack varies. I once had 5 bars, armourer, weapon shop, cloth shop, mechanic shop and trade goods but no boot shop which sells backpacks.
Yeah, sorry. It's the retired captain start, but the guy's name shows up as old soldier in-game.
Anyways, is Mongrel or Worlds End in the north or in the south. I'm in the far north at the moment, about to explore an old ruin north of rebirth.
also Waystation on bottom right [south east] side of map sometimes have some.
I am sure u already know this, but u also might either arrange for an unfortunate accident to happen to a trader caravan, or trail one in dangerous zones and wait for one to happen...
Steal the unfortunate trader's backpack, heal or leave him for guards to heal afterwards, just watch out for not guard to see you stealing, then run fast and promptly away..
Yeah i know i know; it's probably not fitting your role-play and all that :)
[edit: if u can call it spelling..]
The caravan idea. I like it !
Just one little issue: caravan guards tend to be rather on the strong side, so you probably would need to bait couple strong common squads to swarm them, which can be an issue if playing on low spawns..
Also, Faction Caravans mod is probably good idea, generally....[not implying anything *whistling*]
World's End has thieves backpacks, so try to make your way there. I always start as the retired captain because he can hold his own after a few fights with dogs and gorillos.
MB
Retired captain is cool. He's a jack of all trades type of fella. He can do almost everything.
In one game I started, Blister has nothing but Bars and a single Trade Goods Shop.
But after I imported once, it started to have a better mixture of shops (including a adventurer's shop that sells backpacks)
