why are the shek attacking slavers and trade caravans?

Theres an absolute mess going on outside squin, i plan on looting all the dead so im not complaining but traders are our friends. what causes the shek guards to attack traders guild caravan guards? the slavers i can understand as theyre associated with the holy nation but a moment ago they were all just peacefully chilling.

Two possible scenarios come to mind.

1. Slaver tried to enslave a downed Shek, provoking a response.

2. Either the slavers or a trader trespassed in a private building, provoking the guards.

And because slavers and traders are allies, they defend each other if a fight does start.

If they fought each other for long enough, and their relation between each other dropped low enough to become enemy, you might get to see this in every other shek town as soon as the town cells are loaded.

I got the same problom to. In my case, I was dealing with a whole city of UC police because I said "I have no lord" to noble. For somehow Traders Guild start to attack me. Maybe my stray bolt hit them? But this is on their head as they try to heal UC police when we are fighting. Then when I try to sell the loot to Tech Hunter, their guard try to attack me. And I haven't sold anything yet.

So I go wiki page to check what's going on. It seem like them will turn hostile if you "Being caught stealing"? But I have only looting UC? Anyway, my character have 200 heal rate + self healing so even if they have 90+ npc I'll bet them eventually. Just can't imagine how piss I will be if I got a vanilla race.

The United Cities and the Traders Guild are allies. The Tech Hunters and UC aren't exactly allies but... they kinda are. Tech Hunters are anti slavery but they're set to be light allies with the UC in the FCS, to prevent them from getting murdered in every UC town. Tech Hunters are neutral good, if they see you stealing from anyone or starting fights in a city they'll attack you, looting people is stealing, also fighting the police is breaking the law, so as far as the Tech Hunters are concerned you're a criminal.

Basically you just made enemies with nearly 2/3 of the maps military forces, enjoy the chaos while it lasts.

If a hungry bandit who was downed by town guards is enslaved do they keep their hostility with town guards? And would slave traders protect their slave if an angry shek started removing limbs? Or just let them die?

Slavers will protect their slaves and heal any injuries they have, at times they'll even pick up and carry slaves that have lost a leg or are unconscious (other times they'll heal the slaves but then forget about them and abandon them where they lay).

A hungry bandit that was enslaved would be neutral to the guards as long as they remain a good obedient slave, even if they were fighting those same guards just minutes before being enslaved. If they try to remove their shackles or escape in any way, they'll be attacked.

There's difference between being attacked or attacking. If you command your character to attack a hostile, your character will continue to attack other hostiles in the area. If hostile attacked you first, your character will be defending but not going to attack other hostiles in the area unless they are attacking or going to. When your other characters or NPC are protecting allies, they can start attacking other hostiles of same faction within their sights.
