Do you use crossbows in your crew?
I wanna see how many people use crossbows in their crew..what kinds of ratios of crossbows/melee/ when to use crossbow units...

It doesnt seem viable in smaller groups under 10ish because the groups of enemies i come across swamp us and the crossbows get into the thick of it pretty quick, and all they have is something I can fit in a 2ndary weapon slot (katana or something with no balls).. unless of course I micro manage and manually remove the crossbow for a main weapon when engaged in melee.

I even spent a lot of time getting 2 guys competent with eagle crossbows and not taking chunks of HP outta poor Beeps limps.... *has flashback*

Anyway, so far for the huge amount of time ive spent investing into them, always making sure theyre stocked on arrows etc etc to me seems so far not worth it, but i havent ever used them in a large group before either. So far it seems like those 2 guys wouldve been far more useful in the hand to hand...

part of it is the time it takes. You have to level perception, precision shooting AND crossbows... basically you have to spend a large portion of time with your future shooters wielding shoddy junkbows so when the inevitably shoot beep limbs it wont take them clear off.

I run a 3 person crew.
All have crossbows

I normally have 5 crossbows in every game. I have 2 squads, Melee and Ranged. The only micro I do for crossbows is to give them the move order. I do not care if they shoot my own guys, it is how they improve. I do not give them anything more powerful than a Toothpick before they get their skill up to at least 40 ish. That is crossbow skill and Perception.

Crossbowmen with high athletics can be pretty op if you micro them. You can kite groups of enemies into oblivion with a single dude depending on the crossbow. I kinda agree though. Crossbows aren't super useful unless you're microing them

I always have crossbow users. They're seriously "Overpowered." :)

I run up to 50/50 Melee vs Crossbow users.

I could have more if I'm on the road training what are destined to be just Camp laborers like farming/crafting characters. They'll get some crossbow training and basic weapon skills. Everyone fights...

You should have at least one ranger for expedition in case you need to shoot down some npc with crippled arms running around like crazy or they are stuck in wall or at unreachable place.

I do in my latest playthrough. Three out of 17 had skill in crossbows, so I let them use crossbows. I try to make them use the weapon they're most proficient with instead of maxing everything out, I feel it keeps things interesting and organic.

2 in 120. I don't like to stock/replenish bolts either.

Doing a two person Hiver run. Beep and Boop. Boop uses a crossbow, Beep does not.

I have 5 with crossbows. They are good to soften the enemies before they reach to you and also can do the kite thing against strong enemies to avoid injuries.

Normally i skip them early game and start using them once i settled for a base. If i decide to use them at all.

They feel pretty op, even more so if massed.

Not normally, at least not any more. Only exception is training up a group to a reasonable degree for taking down cleanser units safely so I can nab their AI Cores.

I do not use cross bows, but i also do not use turrets. I go with the simi-Shek way of just using some high level heavy weapon users. But i also have a crab or two.

Run a squad of 2 eagle cross plus 2 MKII, they are cross-trained in martial arts so if the enemy closes in, well they are in for even more pain. Martial arts and crossbow seem to work well together. Dodge avoids damage all together, and they are both optimally light armored to be effective, not to mention few armor has crossbow bonus in addition to martial art. Additional benefit of martial arts is that you tend to one shot single enemies who are approaching.

Hivers with prosthetic steady arm/scout legs work amazing. I don't usually kite but use positioning. Have the 2 eagle cross further back on higher elevation while the MKIIs at the front drawing aggro is enough for most groups. Their crossbow skills are in the early 90s and martial arts in the 60s, plus 90s stealth. Managed to take down Stack and Bad teeth with my crossbow squad only (lured a bonedog nest to the gates). By the time I've downed all the paladins some boned dogs are still alive lol. So far having more fun with them then my heavy armored weapons squad who is relegated to home defence/training.

I always have 5 or 6 guys with crossbows. I shoot from a distance until the enemy is close, then I cut them off with my melee guys.
