Can't Find My Save Files

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to locate my save files, however I can't find them in Kenshi's base save folder. Oddly enough, older save files were there, however my recent saves don't end up there. After discovering this, I opened the game, saved a game, went back to the folder, but nothing was there.

I found a forum post directing me to my user/name/appdata/local/kenshi, but my saves weren't there either. I can't find them in my F: drive or my C: drive, too. My saves DO exist, though; I can load recent saves just fine, but they aren't in the Kenshi save folder. Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks guys.

Use the Find function of Windows to search for the save name.

Check your window explorer settings to see if hidden files is enabled then you need to disable it so your saved game files can be shown.

The answer is replied many times as : "User/ Name/ AppData/ kenshi/...".

They're not in user/AppData/kenshi either.

Have you tried the search option bunny suggested? That should find it no matter where it is.

Also make sure to turn on viewing of hidden folders and files as Pyrrhus suggested.

Unless you've got a 3rd party software moving them (first I've ever heard of thenĺ, they are in one of only two locations, the appdata location you mentioned in the OP (the one Cannibal gave is incorrect), or the game's installation folder.

The game also tells you in the options menu which location it's using, and the path to it.

Thanks guys! It was a mix of a lot of things. The saves were in my C drive instead of my F drive (which is where my saves were going last month, not sure why it changed). Not only that, but they were hidden within my C drive. Again, thanks for helping me out, here. I guess that explains why my SSD was loading on gigs mysteriously...

Then I'd suggest going to your options menu in-game and hovering over the "user save location" option, it will tell you exactly where it's saving your saves.

Do you have multiple drives?

finally found my save files.. i was searching on C\user\username---> but couldnt find a file named AppData... when searching for AppData with the search bar it would show the file, but completly empty.. only by opening the file directly by typing in the path myself, i was able to see my savefiles inside, idk why..

Windows 'hides' the AppData folder from people who maybe shouldn't be poking around inside it like your parents... Welcome to PC gaming?

I found mine in "C:/Users/*whatever your user name is*/AppData/Local/kenshi/save"
