I was thinking of making a base in Bast for maximum conflict, just not sure ‘where’.
I have been running around in-game, trying to find a good base location where things are happening. I am allied to the United Cities, so I would love to just watch them fight the Holy Nation. I see on the map that cannibals may get involved, too, which is spicy.

Anyway, does anyone know of a good place? A visual, if you can, as I am so lost on where to set up camp.

I did that once, it was pretty fun. Pretty much set up in the dead centre, but if I remember I made sure I had copper and iron within the borders, but also with plenty of flat ground. There's a kind of rabbit face with the ears, the eyes and the nose, and then below it some kind of evil devil maw where its mouth should be, I remember settling down right in that "maw" but it might be dependent on where the copper / iron is, if you care about that. I also always use a mod to put water and fertility everywhere because 99% of the cool spots have none usually, lol. I don't have a visual for you though, but use the map and you should be able to find a good spot hopefully?

Cannibals seem lazy in every game I've played, I usually settle down within their borders (last time I settled down in the Skimsands, for Holy Nation, Trader Union, Sand Ninja, Dust Bandit and Cannibal fun) but I never saw hide nor hair of the cannibals. I think you need to be deep within their territory, or the territory map is wrong or it includes territory that only becomes such when world states are flipped? Might want to look into that, there's gotta be some heavy fun to be had by messing with the world states I.E in the Skimsands, when I messed with the United Cities, Man Hunters stopped appearing and got replaced with Reavers I think, they were even more FUN to deal with.

If you want a bit of extra fun, instead of going for the typical wall of turrets defence, consider making multiple chambers and put hostile animals in them, see how holy a Paladin looks when he's being gnawed on by an Elder Beak Thing or being fisted by the Great White Gorillo, lol.

This is likely due to a bug in the current version. For some reason certain raids aren't triggering currently, cannibals being one of them. I've heard it affects fogmen too. and likely a few other factions out there.

Thanks! I'm in the maw, but due to the old settlements, it limits building. I wish I could take control of the bast city and expand it, but eh.

As for cannibals, I see them a lot here: https://gyazo.com/feff3d7a51f31d223f3f873215488c89 but this seems like a terrible spot for a base.

I made a base in Bast once, right in the southeastern corner where it's all gorgeous pink sand, right on the border with the next area over (I forget the name of it now). Good location, defensible due to non-traversable areas, iron and copper and close enough to get involved with the major fights a little further northwest.

Of course, there were the annoying slave raids from the UC towns to the east I had to deal with, but they also sent trade caravans. A very bipolar faction, UC. "Hey there, let's trade! Also, we'll be taking half your guys as slaves."

See, it's been so long since I played when I settled in Bast that I forgot there was settlements there, whoops.
